If you love truffle (how could you not?), this small but classy Japanese joint is for you. At the top of the truffle-meets-Japanese food list sits the Wakon Egg (RM15). While it resembles a creme brulee, the egg dish is actually a beautifully browned runny egg embellished with truffle and tobiko (flying fish roe). Other truffle-laced dishes include a generously topped Truffle Udon (RM39.90) and Truffle Tamago (RM19.90). Truffle may be the star at this restaurant, but the distinctive Handmade Udon in Tonkotsu Soup (RM9) can certainly compete — especially to warm the belly on rainy nights. Bring a truffle-loving friend.

Wakon is famous for their exquisite black truffle dishes. Aside from that, I was recommended to try their udon and meat skewers. Thus, I tried their handmade udon in tonkotsu soup (RM9) along with BBQ pork belly (RM7.3) and pork neck skewers (RM8.4).
Everything tastes very good! The udon tastes fresh and springy. The tonkotsu soup has clean but strong flavor of pork broth. There are corn kernels inside the soup which were a bit mushy. It could be a lot better if they were crunchy, adding texture to the dish. The pork belly and neck were amazing. Even though the pork belly came dry, but fortunately it was crunchy with some burnt bits, making it tastes a bit smoky. Love the pork neck too! The meat was springy and very juicy.
My tips if you visit this place is eat everythinf while they're still warm! The place was very cold, it tends to make the dishes cold quickly.
Omg omg omg !! Just when I thought Japanese restaurant offers egg-dishes like tamago or chawamushi, I found this: Wakon egg (RM15 nett). The surface tasted like salted version of Creme brûlée. Once you poke it, the flowing golden egg yolk is simply irresistible ! 😍😍😍 Down side: the portion is really small. How small? It merely filled up 1/2 of my soup spoon 😅😅
Instead of ordinary soy sauce, Gyoza has found its new partner: wasabi. The idea of having wasabi slightly roasted on the top was a good one, which I think it has enhanced the overall taste. Thumbs up for Wasabi Gyoza (RM17.37 nett)!
It is something that you rarely find on the menu especially the neck of a pork.. Usually the ones available for BBQ is always the pork knuckles, pork belly etc but this place has something special that makes you a little curious on the taste and texture as its my 1st time trying that section out.. It's actually a recommendation from the server and according to him, it is a tender part of the animal and there is some balance of fat and meat ratio for the diner to enjoy.. We waited anxiously to try it and finally it came after we had finish our ramen & udon.. The BBQ pork neck (Rm8.37)was to die for!! It's really has the tender texture like those tenderloin cuts and has an amazing balance ratio of fat to meat that just makes it melt in your mouth to eat and really that awesome which sort of to the orgasmic point.. It was well seasoned and glazed with the teriyaki sauce that doesn't over power it but sweeten and enhance the taste of the neck! Delicious and really fulfilling 😘
A little Japanese shop which have a simple decoration of various food pictures to tempt you into their home that was tinted outside to reveal a little Japanese hide out with the layout of a ramen or BBQ shop that had endless bottles of sake displayed on the countertop while behind it you can see those chefs belting out delicious morsels of food to their customer which do resembles what you have seen in Tokyo.. This place does offer ala carte and set lunch menu in a reasonable pricing and currently they do have a laminated page of new BBQ offerings which seems not very helpful on its own, better to get the server to help with the explanation.. So for lunch I had the pleasure in trying out the Handmade udon in tonkatsu broth which to my surprise came in a rather petite bowl and the portion of it leaves you room for more BBQ treats that ranges from A5 wagyu to foie gras and even tentacles being BBQ with teriyaki sauce.. The broth is actually rather 1 dimensional being its too creamy and buttery with some flavour of the corn.. Very clear flavours but not much on the porky flavours that you always get from the Bankara or ippudo.. The udon was quite springy and silky smooth.. Well it's quite petite for Rm9 bowl of noodles
