The weather is cooler today, but there're always other reasons to indulge in ice cold desserts. The coconut ice cream here is creamy with distinctively coconut taste. Interestingly, I thought that famous coconut ice at Chatuchak were icy instead of creamy, so I thought this is in fact a better version of the coconut ice cream. (I didn't know what had happened to the Chatuchak ice cream when I had them in March 2016, it was so different from the one I had 8 years ago!) The owner told me that he imported all his ingredients from Thailand. Is he referring to everything found in this bowl - the red ruby, chendol, peanuts, corn and atap chee? I like the mix of these ingredients, but thought it would be more visually appealing to display them on top of the ice cream of burying them below, so what you're seeing here is me lifting up the ice cream so that I can photograph the goodies hidden below. $4.90 for two scoops of ice cream with all these 'toppings' that weren't on top. This dessert happened to have many of my favourite items all rolled into one, so I'll have it when I'm here again.

Just for the novelty of it though I'd be in Bangkok in two weeks. Not quite authentic but it'll do if you really miss the coconut ice cream in Bangkok ($4.90 for two scoops)

The classic coconut sticky rice was complemented with small cubes of mango, a scoop of coconut ice cream, chopped peanut and topped with coconut milk.
The sticky rice was firm while chewy, and it retained a good bite with a great balance of coconut milk and sugar!
the small cubes of mango were icy and did not provide the sweetness to go together with the sticky rice.

but before the trip, I get to enjoy the classic size of ice cream ($4.90) - 2 scoops of ice cream and 5 toppings, which came with a scoop of coconut and mango flavour respectively. Some of the toppings include coconut meat, red ruby, chendol, corn etc.
Both ice cream flavours were made with buttermilk and the coconut ice cream was bursting with rich and intense flavour. It was a winning pairing with their homemade gula melaka!
The mango flavour tasted milder in comparison with not much ‘wow’ factor.

I want! Waan Waan! Opened by Foon's Thai Wanton Mee at Old Airport Hawker last week, we can't wait to sink our teeth into these cooling desserts in a hot hawker centre! Shiok ah!

Jumbo (SGD 5.50) - Comes with 3 scoops of ice cream (2 coconut, 1 mango) and 5 toppings (red ruby, chendol, sweet corn, peanuts, atap seed). The coconut ice cream was really rich and creamy (we liked) whereas the mango was abit subtle. Downside was that we didn't manage to scoop the coconut flesh because the plastic spoon given breaks too easily.
