Was scrolling through social media and got to learn about the new Twenty Loaf Toasties that have recently just opened its doors in Northpoint City. Located at basement two of the mall, Twenty Loaf Toasties is an establishment that should be fairly easy to find — its immediate neighbour being an outlet of Eastern Rice Dumpling, and that the outlet of Don Don Donki at Northpoint City directly faces Twenty Loaf Toasties as well. Twenty Loaf Toasties is one of the establishments that had opened its doors just as 2023 comes to an end; located within a food kiosk space, there are no dine-in seatings within Twenty Loaf Toasties to enjoy their offerings on-the-spot. That being said, patrons can still make use of the mall’s communal dining space featuring standing tables that is located across from Ya Kun Kaya Toast. Twenty Loaf Toasties does have quite a bright and cheery facade; the large use of yellow for its shopfront also being attention grabbing as well. Given how the establishment focuses solely on toasties, Twenty Loaf Toasties serves up three different types of Toasties (there are intentions to up this number to four, though the fourth flavour was listed as “toasting in progress” during our visit made. The three flavours of toasties that Twenty Loaf Toasties have to offer currently being the Cheesy Bakkwa, Avocado and Truffle Mushroom.

Twenty Loaf Toasties serves up their toasties in two different sizes here — one being the half set, and the other being the full set. Half Set would comprise of 2 pieces of the same flavour — the size of each piece being a quarter of that of the sliced loaf that they use, while the Full Set would comprise of 4 pieces of the same flavour; the Full Set being dubbed as such considering how it is essentially a full-sized sandwich with the toppings sandwiched between two slices of toast. Twenty Loaf Toasties prepares their toasties and press them on the grill fresh upon order; this also means that there is a waiting time for the order to be served — there wasn’t much of an indication for the waiting time for the toasties around the kiosk, and we had waited for 20 minutes for our order to be ready for collection.

Between the two types of toasties that we had ordered, the Cheesy Bakkwa was the one we preferred over the two; the menu does not describe the composition of the Cheesy Bakkwa Toasties in its description, but we did observe that it comprises of Bakkwa, cheese, and pork floss in between two slices of milk bread. Sinking our teeth into the Cheesy Bakkwa Toasties, we really loved how the milk bread is toasted to a nice crisp on the exterior — the milk bread is also sufficient thick to provide a firm bite as well; the insides being sufficiently dense before we reach the fillings in between. The small chunks of Bakkwa comes laced in between all that stretchy cheese; adds a bit of a bite while also adding a hint of sweetness to the stretchy, melted cheese. The addition of pork floss provides an additional umami note to the toasties. The Truffle Mushroom Toasties were decent but offers no surprises; earthy, sautéed mushrooms provide a bit of a bouncy bite with just a slight hint of truffle that compliments all the elements without being overwhelming — the cheese also being all melted and stretchy and comes with a hint of sweetness from what seems to be mayonnaise spread in between. That being said, vegetarians / vegan do need to take note; there is pork floss added to the Truffle Mushroom Toasties — something that is rather atypical for a truffle mushroom-based item that is usually positioned as a vegan / vegetarian dish. The Half Set toasties at Twenty Loaf Toasties are listed with a price tag of around $7 to $8, while the Full Set toasties are priced at $12 to $14. Long waiting time aside for a food kiosk, Twenty Loaf Toasties does offer some pretty solid toasties that are substantially-sized especially if one goes for a Full Set — likely a spot that Yishun residents would love having in the neighbourhood considering the quality of their offerings if they are able to maintain so.
