Got the miso butadon and though it was fragrant and grilled to a nice char, the pork slices were rather dry and not as soft as I had hoped. But I heard from my colleague that the premium option is a lot better so I might be heading back to try when Iβm feeling rich (which is impossible given the current the festive season π)
Perhaps due to the leaner type of pork that the owner has decided to use, mostly due to the feedback from the waistline of the conscious CBD crowd. The rice though, was yummy with the special tare and partly thanks to the state-of-the-art rice washing machine that was purchased to preserve the quality of the high grade Japanese rice right from the start.

The food I had was good and the serving was enough to satisfy a big eater like me. Aside from that, the quality of the food was top notch. Definitely worth recommending.
It was an βokayβ experience. The staffs were very friendly and the food was pretty decent. Ordered the Salmon Don and regular Butadon and I like the Butadon more.
One of my favourite meals in Japan is the grilled soy sauce marinated pork belly rice bowl or butadon from Butadon No Tonta.
Like any typical Singaporean, we dabaoe-ed their in-house soy marinate and tried to re-create it at home. The marinade is great but there is something special about Japanese pork that you can't recreate at home.
Tokachi Tontoro does a decent butadon. I was kinda disappointed because the pork was sliced rather thinly but was not as tender as I hoped it would be. The marinade could be stronger in flavour as well but this is a matter of personal preference.
