Hadn't been here as often as I should even though school used to be very close by — it's great to be back here to enjoy the serene and idyllic vibes and watching the baristas doing the hand brews here with love and passion for the craft.
Always satisfied with my coffee here — the hand brews here are always a refreshing break away from the heavier espresso-based coffees brewed from machines. This cuppa carries a fruity, caramel-esque flavour profile, very clean-tasting yet aromatic being brewed from a blend of beans from Colombia and El Salvador; a sheer pleasure to have on a slow weekend morning.
Great place if you're looking for a quiet spot to get some reading done or just to chill.
Presentation is definitely 10/10. Just look at thatttt adorable round ice ball in this fat round glass! 🌚 The ice ball contains coffee so even as it melts, it wouldn't dilute. How thoughtful! 💕 Coffee here as usual is superb ✨ & this cold brew doesn't disappoint. With juicy sweet notes. It's definitely one to enjoy on a quiet Sunday afternoon 🌼
The last stop of the Tasty Tastemaker Tour where we dropped by this unique and zen spot in the west for some handbrewed coffee. The Tiny Roaster is a place that is by coffee lovers, for coffee lovers — one can get to learn about coffee from the different sources and flavour profiles to the handbrew processes while you drop by for a cuppa brewed by their baristas using the Kalita Wave Drippers which you can purchase and conveniently do at home; they even conduct cupping sessions which the public can attend at a small fee as well. The Iced Latte is brewed with their Fairy Lights blend (which is roasted by themselves), and comes with a ball of coffee ice made from coffee of the same blend so your coffee would not get diluted from the melting ice; a very thoughtful touch indeed!
Our final stop of Burpple's #TastyTastemakerTour was The Tiny Roaster situated at Sunset Way!
This tiny café doesn't just sell good coffee but also teas, imported cheesecakes, coffee tools and equipment! A big pull here is that it conducts brewing, roasting, espresso sessions it its studio to educate coffee connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
They source their beans from all over the world, from Asia, Africa and Central America - all in which carry their own unique flavour. Feel free to enquire with the baristas on ANYTHING about coffee.
Pictured is my dark brew of Yirgacheffe Kochere from Ethiopia ($7). It possesses a light-medium citrusy acidity with floral jasmine tones while having a low body yet leaving a creamy and soft mouthfeel. Yes, I know this because I googled.
