finally tried Katong laksa (but not at Katong 😂) broth is richer than my favourite 928 yishun Laksa.. but Yishun laksa has this nostalgic homely taste that other Laksa doesn’t have. Still a very delicious bowl of laksa. Hum (cockles) or No Hum? more Hum for me pls🙋‍♀️ #jxeatsrecommend #burpple

When you think of Katong laksa, everyone immediately associate it with East Coast Area. And while the origin of it was from there, one never should over looked the lesser known stores. One such store would be this "The Dragon Tree". Don't be deceive by the lack of colour in their milky laksa broth, the owners intentionally makes it a lot less spicy for the tourist counterparts. It's broth is Lemak enough, with tons of dried shrimps grind down to produce the famous laksa broth. One thing I enjoy about this bowl would be the broth is a lot less grainy than most, it's because they strain the shrimp properly, so that the soup is "cleaner" while still maintaining the taste. Spam the Chilli and laksa leaves which I believe are one of the many important ingredient to make the laksa delicious. Their Chilli spicy enough and it brings out the flavour of the laksa really well, while adding a tad of sweetness to it. Growing up to this (practically my daily lunch meal), I am a tad sad that the price for a bowl have risen. I guess it can't be helped. Thankfully the taste and all remains the same.

If you’re wondering, this is from Dragon Tree Katong Laksa in Bugis. I guess nowadays the word “Katong” doesn’t have any value for laksa anymore. 😂
