The mhk pieces were thicc and chewy, it’s a different texture compared to my favourite qq mhk from ahyi at marsiling mall. It’s nice but not my fav. The soup was tasty, it’s not as robust as others’ but it’s okay for me as I am fine with lighter soup. The meatball was average, minced meat clumps could have done with better marination. The give spinach as veg! I usually prefer mhk in soup but for this place I enjoyed the dry one better! The extra $0.50 is for the egg which isn’t in the soup one I guess. The chili isn’t spicy, it adds a different flavour to the sauce. Thought their mhk pieces worked better in the sauce compared to the soup.
Although the casual eatery is named @_sweetelicious_, I’m pretty sure it is their food menu that draws the crowds.
Occupying a corner unit on the ground level of Bukit Timah Shopping Centre (#01-03/04) this family-run business, from what I’ve heard, make their own noodles.
Having tried both their Mee Hoon Kway and Ban Mian ($5), I would say pick the former if you like a firmer bite and the latter, if a slightly softer and slurp-able chew is your thing. I am happy with both - it comes down to the mood I’m in when I visit.
Because their soup is on the sweet side (and that isn’t my thing), I am firmly “Team Dry” when it comes to how I prefer my noodles. Also added into each serving is minced pork, two kinds of meatballs, crispy ikan bilis, Chinese spinach (if you want extra vegetables, just pay 50cents more - it’s what I do) as well as delicate frills of lacy fried egg. The main reason why I zero in on their dry version is the savoury sambal and sauce mix they toss the noodles in - I find it really shiok.
Do note, unlike most “ban mian” stalls, there isn’t a visible whole egg in theirs.
While we enjoyed the handmade mee hoon kueh, the sliced fish bee hoon soup paled in comparison. Was a pretty big portion but quite average with not that many slices of fish.

Honestly never noticed this family cafe before, even though it’s been around for a while now. It’s the first shop you’d see at the side entrance of Bukit Timah Shopping Centre and they serve up homely local fare. Chilli was very subtle and thought the black sauce lacked a tiny bit of oomph, but loved the texture of their handmade mee hoon kueh! It had the right amount of thickness with a good chewy bite, and not doughy at all in the centre. On top of the usual vegetables, meatballs and crunchy ikan bilis, they also add fried egg floss! Tried the fish soup too, but pity it paled in comparison.
My favourite handmade noodles in the area is still Top 1 Handmade Noodles for their you mian, but this is the spot we’ll be returning when the mee hoon kueh craving hits (and to try their bbts haha)!
