Patronised the shop late around 8.30pm, all rice bowls were sold out except unagi don. Rice portion is petite.. Unagi is soft and warm. Many different types of hot sauce to try at the sauce corner. There was one green hot sauce which was empty but not replaced.
Nice Place to dine in but the truffle beef Don Sold out early . Quite small portion.
The local chicken rice inspired dish managed to save the day a little with its soft sou vides chicken breast. Enjoyed the touch of ginger used to season the chicken, making the experience more authentic to its roots. Well the vegetables of cucumber and cherry tomatoes had no taste to them. After a while, the overall taste fell flat so it was finished with copious amount of garlic chilli sauce that was made available over the counter.
It was supposed to be yumepirika rice, truffle beef, broccoli florets, onsen egg and furikake. However they seemed to have saved on seasoning for the rice and beef that evening. The beef was not even that tender on top of that missing truffle aroma. Broccoli florets definitely could do a few more seconds in the boiling water too.
$12 for both bowls
Unagi:
- Portion was smaller than expected
- Unagi tasted standard, like the kind you can buy from supermarkets
- Okay for the price paid after redeeming the deal
Truffle Beef:
- Generous serving of beef
- Beef slices were too large, and hard to chew. A bit overdone
- Truffle taste was underwhelming
- Rice was salty, too much furikake and not much else
Overall:
- nice ambience, clean and not too crowded
- free charging wires provided at tables
Customisable dons depending on your liking but the set is more worth it in my opinion 😂 Paid $11 for 2 unagi dons (1 for 1 Beyond) so the for $5.50 you can regard to be worth it since its I'm town area. Not exceptionally crowded even though I went at lunch time but they do take some time to prepare the food (~10 mins for mine). Acceptable and nice but not over the top.
