Love how moreish the burger was. The onions rings weren't special but the battered cauliflower stole the show. The breading wasn't too heavy for each flavourful and crispy piece.
My weeks as of late has been paradoxically long and short. Long when I think about the hours spent in the office- work and short because there doesn’t seem to be enough time to finish everything that needs to be done.
But I am grateful for pockets of breaks- take this full day’s break for example when my empress dowager got hospitalised. I’ll save you the long story; but a side result was me spending my afternoon at Slowbakes, Novena (a hood out of the east where we live).
Have I not mentioned how riveting the experience of just having good bread can be? At least for me this simple slice of French toast brioche was enough to uplift my spirits from a concerning day. Life is too short for bad bread, I am reminded. So eager to return and hunt for great bakes around my little red dot when work winds down (EOY?😬)
Long Black: handcrafted fresh brew, slightly acidic.
Croissant Chocolate Creme: flaky crispy buttery, quite an indulgence indeed.
Included 84% French butter, soy milk, raw almond, cacao powder & other good stuff.
Yummy!
The bun was soft and chewy, and the filling was a decent amount with small bits of nuts in it which gave it a nice crunch. The flavour of the hazelnut really came through, which impressed me!
The croissant was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I like that it was not too flaky nor too chewy. They were not stingy with the matcha and the flavour was strong which satisfied my matcha craving!
Overall really satisfied with my purchase. They taste so good even though it was a takeaway and that I ate it after a good few hours!
Probably my favourite sourdough loaf (all things considered, esp when it comes to availability/ease of purchasing). Love the extra soft crumb, which is perfect if you’re not too fond of the super dense type of bread. It has a nice tang too!
Will try the semolina sourdough loaf next time.
Here’s another way to enjoy the tangy sourdough here. I usually prefer thinner crusts but I actually liked the almost bread-y one here. Thought the pepper slices will be roasted till soft, but we didn’t mind the slightly blistered strips atop the pie. It’s not greasy at all since there’s no cheese. Don’t let that sway you as the combination with the tomato sauce, oyster mushrooms, onions and basil is delish!
