Cheese Menchi Katsu Set Pork Katsu? Yes please. Molten cheese? Yummy. Molten cheese oozing out of pork katsu? Hell yeah! I've been besotted with Maruhachi's pork katsu don ever since trying them last year, and its Cheese Menchi Katsu, back by popular demand for a limited time (till 30th June), are veritably vivacious.
The 饾棖饾椀饾棽饾棽饾榾饾棽 饾棤饾棽饾椈饾棸饾椀饾椂 饾棡饾棶饾榿饾榾饾槀 饾棪饾棽饾榿 ($12.90) consisted of two large globes of minced pork fried to perfection, served with a side of salad with sesame dressing. Crunchy outside and succulent inside, the pork was impeccable.
Slicing the globes apart, the cheese slowly oozed out, taking its time to make a grand entrance, like a movie star on the red carpet. The cheese's salty profile added depth to the pork's flavour. The refreshing salad also helped cut through the grease.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. @maruhachi2020 is the best katsu don hawker stall in Singapore!
