Sambal Klasik Chicken Rice Burger Wasnāt really intrigued with MOS Burgerās new limited time-only offering until there comes a day where we were scrolling through social media and found a post describing it ā the post pretty much talks about the Nasi Lemak Burger from the Golden Arches and the Sambal Klasik Chicken Rice Burger from MOS Burger. It was only then we realised that the Sambal Klasik Chicken Rice Burger is not just MOS Burgerās attempt to release a locally-inspired burger in-line with the National Day season coming up ā there was also much of a subtle hint that the Sambal Klasik Chicken Rice Burger is pretty much MOS Burgerās approach of creating something close to that of what the Golden Arches are also offering, though with their own twist.
The Sambal Klasik Chicken Rice Burger has been around since July 2023, but for those whom are unaware, the burger consists of elements such as fried chicken patty, fried egg, lettuce and sambal with anchovies according to what was being described in the marketing collateral that announces the release of the item. Interestingly, MOS Burger also does serve up a Sambal Klasik Chicken Burger; that would be the version of the burger that comes with the usual burger buns instead of the rice patties that replaces the burger buns in MOS Burgerās rice burger offerings ā we opted for the Sambal Klasik Chicken Rice Burger instead considering how this variant brings the āNasiā together with the egg and sambal. Sinking our teeth into the burger, it was obvious why MOS Burger had decided to call this the Sambal Klasik Chicken Rice Burger rather than make any reference to it being a Nasi Lemak-inspired burger ā there is no āLemakā element here, since the rice patties would be the very same ones that are used in all MOS Burgerās rice burgers offerings. That being said, the other elements compliments each other well ā the fried chicken was nothing short of being crisp with well-seasoned, moist and juicy chicken flesh within, while the fried egg gave an eggy note with soft, jiggly egg whites and a fully-cooked egg yolk. That being said, the sambal carried a sweet and savoury note; there wasnāt much of a spicy kick with this one, but the afore-mentioned flavours does evoke much of the āNasi Lemakā vibe anyway despite the lack of coconut-infused rice here. Meanwhile, the lettuce provided a crisp and refreshing crunch. All in all, a rather underrated offering from MOS Burger with a local fusion element that works ā something to try before it is being taken off from the menu once the National Day season has passed!
