Ohh my husband has long waited for having this in Singapore. It came to Sari Ratu Indonesian Restaurant finally. Itโs fantastic as the taste is quite authentic. The meat also tender and the gravy has a kick of spices.
Satay lovers, rejoice!
My husband rejoiced for this new menu item, he has been waiting for it since long time. And the taste got authentic approval from my husband as weโre Indonesian.
Taste wise, is really close to what we used to eat in Indonesia. The satay gravy was slightly spicy and the meat not too hard. Comes in beef or chicken.
Craving satisfied.
Two chunky servings of the lamb spinal cuts stewed in a hot pot of curry. The gravy is savory but doesn't quite go well with the lamb and rice.
Same sambal Balado coating the fried egg plant. My favourite vegetarian dish from Nasi Padang.
Flavourful pangang chicken thigh with bumbu so good The Colonel would be licking his toes!
Medley of beancurd (tauhu), tempeh, string beans and cut chili stir-fried with the spicy rempah, a classic indeed.
If this is not wetting your appetite, not sure what will? The sambal balado is really fresh, you can taste a slight sweetness perhaps from tomatoes. It's not (too) spicy and if you are not careful, this itself can swipe clean the plate of steamed rice.
Pricing-wise it is definitely competitive to the rest and the Ayam Gulai was the star of the table. The mild curry gravy was heated in a claypot upon order and the chicken was meaty and tender. Paired with some rice and itโs a perfect combination. However, the other dishes were slightly below par like the sambal goreng which was too salty, the ayam bakar that was too dry and the telor dadar that was one-dimensional. Nonetheless, the one thing that will make me return again is the ayam gulai which is something that you definitely have to get when here.

One of my fav thing in nasi padang is Ayam Pop.
It has simple taste, lil oily, lil salty but addicting. (Itโs not boiled chicken)
My best way to enjoy nasi padang is by drenching my rice with much of chicken gulai soup, itโs so rich of coconut milk and so flavourful. (And itโs free ๐)
Cassava leaves is a must in nasi padang (i love it dry) and mix it with the sambal ๐
The sambal is also good, tasty and spicy.
