Rocket Coffeebar (S.49)

Caffeine overload? There is never too much caffeine in my dictionary. I stood there all day with my cup of beautiful tulip poured mocha and getting inspired by the surrounding feel-good vibes. Nothing more, nothing less. Perfect.

Scandinavian style open-faced sandwich. Thinly sliced roast pork loin on Danish rye bread dressed with curried Danish remoulade, garnished with crispy shallot and dill pickles. The rich curry-mayo based remoulade sauce accentuate the slightly dry pork loin with a slight spicy taste. While it is filling for us, I felt portion might not be sufficient for a guy.

A beautifully plated dessert with many components brought together. The highlight for me would definitely be the strawberry sorbet, not overly sweet nor sour, the icy refreshing sorbet tasted very close to the fruit but in a ice-cream form! The other ingredients such as the vanilla pudding, mousses, gels, meringues, lemon curd and star anise crumbles provided a nice contrast in the textures.

This was presented in a very instagram-worthy manner, with a Ecuadorian cocoa stick, dollop of whipped cream and a huge cup of steamed milk. Swirl in the cocoa stick (or in actual fact you gotta leave it to melt because it’s too huge a block to keep swirling) to get a warm comforting cup of hot chocolate. Probably too big a cup of milk, the end product tasted like a chocolate milk instead!

Rocket Coffee Bar’s cold brew - a blend of brazil, guatemala, indonesia and thailand coffee beans. What we tasted is a medium-bodied coffee that is smooth for the throat and finishes off on a chocolatey note. A slice of lemon comes with the ice which add a little citrus touch to it! The small size comes in handy when you just need a quick caffeine boost for the day!

3.5 munchies: Inspired by the cafe culture in San Fransisco, Stockholm and Sydney, this tastefully designed coffee bar serves up fresh and high quality Scandinavian food. While the dishes may seem enticing, the flavours did not match up to the delightful presentations unfortunately. I'd still come back and spend a lazy afternoon for their coffee and pastries.
