Food Hunt In Bangkok
Frequented by locals, the place was packed during lunch hours so best to head down early.
Their main dish was Kuay Jup (THB60), clear pepper-base soup with rice noodles, crispy pork belly and pork entrails. Or those who aren’t a fan of entrails, you can choose tender pork slices instead. The soup was just right and not overly peppery as you slurp up those soft rolled up rice noodles.
But the highlight will be their Signature Crispy Pork (THB55/plate or THB550 for 1KG). Perfectly done with the right amount of meat to fat layer and an incredibly crispy skin at the top. Dipping into the dark sweet sauce, these are so crackling good that we devoured it down in no time.
Chilling and getting a glass of frothy nitro cold brew (THB 90) will be a good idea especially during CNY house visiting. For adventurous souls, you can try their popular Kai Kem Latte aka Salted Egg Latte (THB 120). Made of concentrated cold brew coffee with caramelized Chaiya salted egg and peanut butter syrup, it’s a perfect balance of sweet and savoury!
Thick buttered toast coated in Nutella sauce, two generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and topped with Ferrero Rocher, it’s easy to see why most will give into temptation and have this. But non sweet tooth lovers might find it cloying after a few bites.
made of homemade tagliatelle, bacon and mushroom, cloaked in rich truffle cream sauce and dusted with parmesan cheese. The aromatic truffle paired with finely made pasta, a well-executed dish that we can’t resist ordering when we are here!
This place had went viral after posting of the huge tom yum pots that’s only available from 11 pm. So be prepared to wait from 20min to an hour plus for a seat, that’s how crazy the queue is!
Loaded with ingredients such as prawn, squid, meatballs, chunks of crab meat, crispy siuyoke (roast pork) and springy MAMA instant noodles, this Tom Yum Hotpot can easily feed 6 pax or more. Mix with chilli padi, ginger slices and more, the tangy tom yum soup was so spicy that I was sweating after just one bowl! Though my companions fare much better, even wishing it was spicier.
Was first introduced to LeTAO a few years back when I was visiting Otaru, Hokkaido and LOVE it!! So you can imagine my happiness when I spot the store at Siam Paragon, Bangkok.
LeTAO's Double Fromage uses the finest ingredients and Anbrosi mascarpone from Lombardy region in North Italy. Milky smooth no-bake cheesecake form the top layer whereas rich delicious baked version forms the bottom layer. One bite of this melty cheesecake felt as if you had die and go to heaven. Okie maybe not so 夸张 but you get what I mean.
Fluffy buy not crispy buttermilk waffles stuffed with air-whipped cream and chunks of fresh strawberries. Accompanied with a generous scoop of house made vanilla ice cream and maple syrup to dunk your waffles in. Yummy~
Sweltering heat and wish I can have Coco JJ's coconut ice cream now. Said to be the original store in Chatuchak Market and of course the best! At THB40, you get a scoop of coconut ice cream made of fresh coconut milk, slices of coconut flesh and two toppings of your choice - atap seed, sticky rice, and many more. Plus they come with a cup of coconut water to quench your thirst!
Scandinavian style open-faced sandwich. Thinly sliced roast pork loin on Danish rye bread dressed with curried Danish remoulade, garnished with crispy shallot and dill pickles. The rich curry-mayo based remoulade sauce accentuate the slightly dry pork loin with a slight spicy taste. While it is filling for us, I felt portion might not be sufficient for a guy.
Amidst the tons of Japanese restaurant at Central World, you'll find OMU tucked away in one corner on level 6. They serve a variety of omurice (omelette rice) with authentic Japanese flavours: tomato sauce, curry sauce, even okonomiyaki style!
Here's our beautifully executed OMURICE. Add on THB20 like us just to get the flowy lava egg~
P.S: Rem to get tourist pass at info counter and enjoy 10% off your meal. Don't say I never share!
Homemade Tagliatelle cooked al dente style in creamy sauce made with parmesan cheese and truffle oil. Add in crispy bacon bits and sautéed mushroom, words cannot begin to describe how delicious this is!
