First of all, I would like to mention the excellent service Proof Cafe gives because I was at first given an incredibly horrible soggy bread under the poached eggs (a rookie mistake for restaurants to serve undrained poached eggs) but my first plate was willingly replaced with a new plate, of perfect crusty bread and runny egg yolk. Something different from other breakfasts, Proof offers sautéed spinach, something lighter than baked beans. I love their spinach and I wish I could have more!
And I just found out VCR serves spinach in their big breakfast too! Time to head there! 😍 Besides that, sautéed mushrooms were not as fragrant as the sautéed spinach, chicken ham and sausage is nothing special but of course, edible and satisfying.
It's hard to justify the pricing for big breakfast, or go wrong with cooking basic hams, sausages, grill half a tomato, sauté some mushrooms and serve eggs of any style to your liking with bread, to assemble as the classic English (unless you really can't step a foot in the kitchen). But based on my experience and preferences, I'm still a fan of Antipodean Bangsar breakfasts and Yellow Brick Road. I must try VCR's though.
Food: 6/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 23 - also a choice of complimentary black coffee and tea)
Grilled chicken with a rather sweet and spicy sauce. If the word "volcanic" scares you, not to worry because it was a forgivable level of spiciness.
There was a significant taste of spices that I don't really know but it was just like sambal chicken.
Tender and juicy grilled thighs, definitely a white meat pleaser. Served with a side of potato salad, and fresh salad. Initial choice was a side of fries but you can always opt for your preferred choice and the kitchen will definitely accommodate you.
Not much to shout about as its really an average chicken dish. My mother who ate with me was not impressed. Flavorful, but mediocre.
Food: 5/10 Price: 5/10 (RM 25)
Great compliment to your early morning sky view if you're at Proof Cafe enjoying breakfast.
Highly appreciate the effort to make up for mistakes, especially by a very clever staff, Joanne. She walks around asking for feedbacks on your order and would gladly take criticisms.
Coffee: 7/10 Price: I had it on the house, compliments to Joanne. If I'm not mistaken though, their white coffee is about RM 10 to RM 11.
Proof Cafe & Sky Lounge opens its doors each morning at 6.30am everyday. Yup, you read that right. If you're an early riser looking to fill your tummy, this could be a life saver for you! Most dishes here are Melbourne-inspired and curated by head chef Jia Yuan, who has worked in Melbourne for a few years. Burpple Tastemaker Tracey loves the baked eggs served with two slices of toast. This place also has a great view of Sri Hartamas, making it the perfect spot to start your day, or for daytime dates and meetups!
Located at The Signature, Proof Cafe & Sky Lounge is located at the top where you could dine with a scenic view of Mont Kiara. Food is great too, most of which are Melbourne inspired and left me wanting for more 😁 The baked eggs was specially prepared, and was not in the menu, but I loved it a real lot!
So we took this French toast and the gourmet breakfast as recommended . With coffee and hot chocolate it came to RM71. Do feel the price is on the high side. Need to rethink pricing
