Presentable piece of work. Chocolate flavored sheet cake filled and covered with chocolate truffle cream. Sweet but not overwhelming, however, the sponge cake was a little coarse and dry.
Surprisingly good. The sandy texture of salted egg yolk goes well with the smooth cheese. The cheese wasn't too flavourful, which makes the original flavour pale in comparison, but works well for the combination with salted yolk. The buttery tart base was like that of their famous chicken pies. Overall I would highly recommend this; toast it for a few minutes before eating. As for the original, hmm, no loss if you give it a miss.
Finally got some fate into trying these; have always wondered how would cheese tarts taste. This was actually quite similar to the Prime Deli egg tarts in a way; that slightly sweetened crumbly crust, though with a mildly sweet and ricotta-like lightness in both flavour and texture. It was supposed to flow (at least that's what I got from the name), but this one was a tad lukewarm and didn't manage to do so. Not sure how this one fares to the original ones from abroad, but it would be interesting to see how this compares to the one from BAKE opening at ION soon.
It seems like chicken pies nowadays are the puff pastry sort, with a heavily peppered, savoury filling. Those are not quite to my taste so I'm very thankful Prima Deli is still thriving and serving up MY kind of chicken pie. 😝 The crust of the Prima Deli chicken pie is buttery and crumbly, the savoury version of a shortbread crust. Filled with mushrooms and chicken chunks, this pie has a good balance of saltiness and sweetness. Anyone else prefers this version of chicken pie to the "modern" ones too? 🙋
