I love this childhood favourite of mine - spongy kueh kueh slathered in "pengat" banana gravy. Sweet yet somehow savoury.
Looks like Lor Bak or Ngoh Hiang, but isn't. Coarsely chopped and lightly spiced pork and liver wrapped in beancurd skin(pig's caul is traditionally used) then deepfried. Served with Nonya pickles, Chilli Chuka(vinegared chilli) and sweet sauce.
Satisfyingly smoky and spicy with chunks of squid and prawn hidden within.
For the uninitiated, cincalok is a sort of fermented shrimp paste and incredibly salty/pungent. The omelette was adequately fluffy but we felt that the cincalok didn't come through at all.
Fall-off-the-bone chicken in incredibly rich and fragrant Nonya-style curry. Sedap siol!
