More Reviews of good food at No SignBoard Seafood Restaurant 无招牌海鲜 (Geylang)

Old school goodness and we finished every strand of it. Resistance was futile. A big thank you to @sakeambrosia for the treat and a lovely evening. Really nice to get reacquainted with the food here. It’s so good.

Still the best! The pepper has enough KICK to it but it’s so good that you just keep going back for more and I like that they can achieve all that flavour without the dish feeling oily. Finger licking good and worth every bit of hard work.

Steamed to perfection and adorned with crispy garlic and resting on a bed of tong fun, this is seriously good. One is the best I’ve had. Perfectly executed.

I wouldn’t have thought of ordering this but thanks to @sakeambrosia, we did and I absolutely loved it. Utterly yummy and nourishing. Nothing like a good soup.

#Noshtalgia. That’s what’s last night’s meal was. I managed to hurtle back in time to a place my family use to hold family gatherings for celebrations (we hit the peak in the ‘90s I think), thanks to Louis. He had told me this place has the best white pepper crab in Singapore in his opinion, and since I hadn’t been there in forever and a day, somehow our conversation led to dinner being organised.
No Signboard Seafood does look a little different these days, but all I was really interested in, was the food. And boy, did it deliver.
We sipped on a delicious herbal soup with fresh bullfrog to start, which I swear is the best way to warm up for the rest of the meal. The white pepper crab was a stunner, featuring very good quality Sri Lankan crab cooked in a buttery sauce that was insanely fragrant and tasty (I had a huge urge to lick the plate clean but resisted). Each of our large bamboo clams steamed with glass vermicelli and golden-brown bits of fried garlic was flawlessly executed, and the accompanying dip of chilli, fresh herbs and raw garlic formed a most addictive combo with it. Louis shared that this restaurant’s “la la” (clams) stirfried in garlic and chili padi is his all-time favourite in Singapore and I can understand why - the dish turned out to be so appetising I wish we had tripled the size of our order. We had to get a serving of the restaurant’s mee goreng too since I had forgotten how the old-school style of fried yellow mee tasted. And yup, it was still cooked tomato-sweet, spicy and gunky with pieces of seafood and “tau kwa”, and still had the power to seal the deal for instant food coma.
The total bill for the three of us came to about $330, inclusive of a plate of sambal kang kong and a fresh coconut each. Thanks again Louis for footing it this time.

Surprisingly crowded on a Tuesday.
White pepper crab is something to shout about. Chilli crab needs improvement.
Fish is fresh and nicely steamed. Other dishes oso OK.
Coconut ice cream is nice too.
Service OK initially. As it gets crowded, service started to slow down. But it's ok.
$438

First time here at the Geylang branch and ordered the chilli crab plus a couple of other dishes including a fish for two, which came close to $200. The chilli crab sauce tasted rather bland and leaning towards a Sichuan type taste rather than your typical thick, sweeter and lots of egg variety here in Singapore. Very average and overpriced experience.

This is my first time here.. So blessed to be able to eat chilli crab for Cny! my friends say standard has dropped.. the chilli crab sauce is rather “watery and too spicy, not sweet and the sauce did not simmer into the crab..? “But the crab was really huge and meaty. Mantou was quite disappointing..total bill came to $327 for 5pax. Service was good and my favourite thing there was the ice milk tea (Teh Bing) still, I enjoyed the meal🤤

White Pepper Crab is undisputedly No Signboard's bestcrab dish 🦀 With crushed white pepper, the gravy is a potent coating, creating that unchanging taste since my parents dated 👨🏻♥️👩🏻 Without overpowering your palate, its milder flavour is an enhancing infusion to the delicate sweetness of succulent crab flesh. Bouncy and firm is this meat. Stalks of spring onion garnish generously. Get some fried mantous (buns) and mop up that thick gravy.

It's been a while I've been back to this seafood Cze Char establishment off the main road of Geylang. Well, I guess something just never change. Not referring to the hustle & bustle that's ever so evident spanning this infamous part of our island. It is the signature taste of this classic dish at No Signboard that I relate most to and it has not changed a bit. The crabs are really really fresh, meaty and the flavours go really really deep - the white pepper infused into the crabs is truly a culinary skill that must be best mastered by a cze char "tow-chew". Then again, I think this must be really tough as you find not many actually serve this preparation of crabs. Beat chilli crab and black pepper crab hands down.

This is like a replica of the Thai's coconut ice cream you'll find along the streets in BKK! The ice cream is rich in coconut flavor and not too sweet which suits to my liking! 👍 it also comes with strips of coconut flesh at the bottom which really goes well tgt! 😋

1st Lo Hei for the new year. 😱😂👌

We were having difficulty finding a supper spot near Lavendar. After hopping on a cab, we asked the driver for recommendations. The driver’s first suggestion was Long Beach at stadium. Unfortunately, Long Beach’s operating hours ends at 11PM. Fortunately, the second suggestion was better than the first one. We ended up at No Signboard’s Geylang branch. I’ve passed by this place many times and was deterred by the neon decorations. From the looks of it, No Signboard looks like a tourist trap. We decided to give it a shot because of the driver’s recommendation. No Signboard ‘s Crab Beehoon comes in 3 versions; it has a dry, wet and soup version. It appears that the price of crab had gone up significantly. 1kg of crab costs SGD 90. However, you will not regret paying this price at No Signboard. The crab was filled with plump and fresh crab roe. The meat was tender and easily removed from the shell. Crab meat which are not fresh tends to be difficult to remove from the shell. Little crab roes was generously found throughout the wet, sticky and umami sauce. It certainly lifted up the taste of the Bee Hoon. If I had to be picky and picked on something, it would be the type of Bee Hoon No Signboard used. I will prefer a slightly thicker version with the Bee Hoon cooked longer resulting in a mild charred taste. However, No Signboard’s wet crab Bee Hoon really exceed my expectation. The crab beehoon is accompanied by two types of chilli sauce. The first type being a chilli paste mixed with spices and onions. The second type being a Thai style chilli sauce mixed with lime juice, garlic and spices. The former pairs well with the Bee Hoon and the latter pairs well with the tender crab meat. #foodie #foodporn #foodphotography #crab #beehoon #singaporefood #hungry #supper #sgfood #seafood #geylang

Thank you for being tasty and comforting. 😋
