Was walking around and deciding what to to eat when I saw a newspaper article for one of the stalls. Heard good reviews of this dish ($3.30) that includes a few pieces of fried chicken on top of an egg from a friend who is studying there and it did not disappoint. So good that I regretted not buying the upsized version. Will eat this again if I am at NP again.
Ordered the western cuisine, uncle was generally rude to customers, raising his voice, showing attitude, etc. maybe cause he assumes all customers are students? unacceptable.
[MUIS Halal-Certified] I’m about to complete my studies as an undergraduate in a month’s time, and truth be told, I’ll miss the food at Makan Place more than anything. This is the famed Mongolian Chicken set from Makan Place’s Pines. It really doesn’t singe your wallet and it is pretty delicious at $4.20. Although…most times, they are illiberal with their sauce…and it’s the selling point of this dish!?! 😤 Okay well, their cereal bits are a highlight too, to be honest. (7.9/10)
TAKE NOTE — it doesn’t come with the rice set by default, but you can add on a portion of it for 50¢. And since most stalls at Makan Place have the NETS ‘50¢ off via Scan & Pay’ promotion going on, what’s really stopping anyone from doing just that? 😙
Also, it’s a terrible idea for me to be typing out a caption for this while I’m fasting. The hunger pangs are hitting me harder than it should be. 😧🤧
[Halal] I get behind more humble cuisine choices from time to time, and one favourite would have to be the Chicken Char Siew Noodles from my alma mater, Ngee Ann Polytechnic. :’D
You can find this at the halal chicken rice stall which is located somewhere at the eastern end side of the cafeteria. It’s very affordable at $2.50, fairly delicious and above all, pretty darn satisfying. They have variations with roasted chicken as well as chicken cutlet, both of which are priced the same as this one! 😋 (7.3/10)
$0.50 per piece. Extremely big. Usually siew mais in other hawker centres tend to be very small and not fulfilling, however, the one at Makan Place was an exception. It was huge and very tasty, certainly one that had flavour and seasoning to it! Would recommend especially if you are a dim sum lover. Affordable and nice!
$0.70. Extremely cheap and worth it considering the generous amounts of red bean fillings. It was not only good but also sweet, which is what a red bean pau should have been. I would have hoped for the pau to be bigger so that it is more satisfying and that the dough used could be softer. Personally one of the better paus in Ngee Ann Polytechnic!
$2.50. Extremely cheap and good food and I really love this store very much due to its good service and speed, at the same time, maintaining the quality of the food they prepare. The ban mian is one of the best in school, not too hard and not too soft in texture. The yolk was running and definitely one of the most shiok things in this dish! Always love eating this dish and just drinking the soup as well. My comfort food.
70 cents only!! This bread is really amazing because the yam filling was very sweet and generous. While the yam was inconsistent throughout, it didn't matter because the yam was just fantastic! Definitely an affordable and bread that was worth it.
For $2.80 this is a steal!! In my opinion one of the best dumpling ban mian I have ever tasted. The dumpling is filled with generous amounts of vegetable and pork. The soup is good and the ban mian is cooked to perfection. The chilli is also great!! Always eating this dish when I come to Makan Place
A simple dessert and I'm not complaining for the price! (Though I found it funny they added the red jelly.) Glad the lady was generous with the syrup so we weren't just munching on plain ice. Great cool down for the weather and after my ma la hotpot lunch. Works better than a drink!
Seems like Ma La is gradually becoming a staple in every kopitiam. This is the second stall in Ngee Ann Poly! Was there during the peak lunch hour and oh my, the wait was nearly half an hour. I liked that they bothered to cut the lotus root slices for easier consumption but the pieces of pork liver were way overcooked. Sauce and spices were flavorful but somehow wasn't that consistent throughout the whole bowl. Still a decent choice though, when craving for something hot and spicy!
From a new Yakitori stall named Yakiya at Makan Place at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. They serve quite a selection of grilled meats, seafood and vegetables. Chicken Wing is glazed with sweet-savoury sauce; perhaps one of the better options here. Ebi was floury, though hot and crisp, while the meat were either too stiff and dry or a little too soft. Wouldn't really go for this the next time I am here.
A super good deal for food at the canteen! Pasta ranges from $2.50 to $5, you're in for a good treat!
yesterday's #breakfast set, like what people always say, start your day with a good breakfast. coffee x toast set is enough to make old people happy :) kay shut im old LOL. #makanplace #ngeeannpoly #coffee #bread #egg
