Pen this spot down for a rewarding meal after assignment submission! myBurgerLab grills up some of the best burgers in town, and despite the long queues, it’s worth the wait. Dive straight for the well-known A Beautiful Mess (RM21), cheddar beef patty crowned with three crunchy portobello mushrooms and a sunny side up. Otherwise, Captain Hook (RM22) which sees a crispy-on-the-outside and tender-on-the-inside fish patty dressed in spicy Kelantanese budu mayo is equally yum – best had with a side of Awesome Fries (fries seasoned with rosemary and thyme, RM5.50).

This burger sees the same toppings but with ultra crispy fried chicken as the patty. I personally prefer the beef, but this is a very nice alternative if you want a burger with more texture.
The Stinkbomb is back at myBurger Lab – sambal petai plus blue cheese on a beef patty, sandwiched between two charcoal buns. No lie, I was very hesitant to eat this as I’m in no way the biggest fan of petai (and I can tolerate blue cheese), but it’s not as pungent as it sounds to be. The sweet pineapple slice tucked in the middle really helps to cut away the strong flavours, making it much easier to go in for another bite.
Similar to its chicken friend with sambal petai chicken mince and blue cheese, except for sporting their classic beef patty instead of a fried chicken thigh. The Stinkbomb is tastier, almost as if the petai flavour is punchier here than in the Hook, Line & Stinker. But then again, it could just be that the beef adds its own savouriness to the combi.
Buggin’ happy time as usual at myBurgerLab. The seasonal stinky burg makes a comeback this month (5 Mar onwards)! Featuring blue cheese, sambal petai chicken mince and a pineapple ring on top of a thick and crunchy deep-fried chicken thigh, this one’s not for the faint-heart - to say the least.
The good thing is, while you get the umami of petai and blue cheese, the sweet and juicy pineapple goes a long way in cutting through all that pungency. There is also a beef patty version though I personally liked the chicken one better just cos it offers a bit of crunch.

✨: The thick fish patty was crisp on the outside with tender, flaky fish on the inside. The slightly spicy Kelantanese Budu Mayo added a nice twang to the burger, and the crunch and freshness of the accompanying vegetables balanced the flavours out nicely.
💬: MBL will always remain a treat for me given it’s hefty price tag, even for an ala carte burger. Can’t deny the quality though!
Honestly, I’d have to give the burger another go before I decide if it compares to or beats my all time favourite MBL burger (a classic lab burger with an additional pineapple ring!).
