Freshly killed on the same day and a rarity. Well steamed too with the accompaniments being used well

However the texture is really hard to get used to. It's basically dried glue but softer I guess. Sticky texture (isn't actually sticky), quite a bit of chew, a bit soft, no crunch at all. No taste except for mild fishiness

Except for adventure there's no reason to get this.

Their menu is basically combinations of seafoods for the seafood porridges, just think about what seafood u want and you see if there's a closest match, then add on anything you want. Prices are reasonable so don't worry, but good to ask first because it's all seasonal

Minced pork add on wasn't very generous but good enough, surf clams were numerous. Surf clams and squid were both slightly overcooked though. Crab is decent, not super good but doesn't detract from the experience

Portion is really huge, we thought this could feed 4(it's meant for 2-3), but we struggled and finished everything

Their soup is delicious, it's so unique and unexpected. It's clear and theres the seafood umami but there's something to it. Maybe it's just the pickled veg but it really feels like a lot more. Nonetheless flavour is still clean and it's very comforting yet indulgent. Good stuff overall

If you’re ever caught in this city on a rainy day, find comfort at this cosy restaurant in Taman Mount Austin for heartwarming Seafood Porridge (from RM90). Served bubbly and piping hot, the seafood porridge is chock-full with prawns, clams, crab and more. Burppler Vanessa Kou enjoyed the super savoury broth, which has a tinge of sweetness thanks to the fresh crustaceans. Pro tip: The portion is mighty generous, so Burppler Veronica Phua suggests to minus one person’s order for this dish so you’ll have tummy space for other great dishes like the Steamed Fish Maw (from RM25) and Fried Fish (a piece, RM2).

Midnight cravings have me thinking about this massive pot of porridge at Matang Seafood in Taman Mount Austin! Served bubbling and pipping hot, I really enjoyed the savoury broth as it held the natural sweetness of all the crustaceans used and the fresh flavours just meld wonderfully together. Chock full of ingredients, the portion was also generous and particularly satisfying after the many sweets we had inhaled that

Cooked in the teochew style, the fish maw was light in flavour - garlicky with sesame oil, light soy sauce and ginger. I have never encountered fish maw cooked in this way before and was pleasantly surprised by the chewy texture. Might not be a dish for everyone, but definitely in my must-order list!

Didn't eat as much as I'd have liked during the recent JB trip but this left quite an impression, partly due to the journey just to get there, and the fact that we had too much desserts.

Basically just let them know what kind of seafood you'd like and the portion - quite generous so just get lesser portion than the number of people you've got and order more sides! For our pot there were scallops, 1 crab, prawns, fish and clams which were sadly not very plump - resulting in a sweet broth, so flavourful and it supposedly has no MSG. Thankfully wasn't mushy, was cooked just right without sacrificing the integrity of each grain. Very comforting!

Personally didn't like the fish maw's texture, but our table was divided on that, clams were quite tasty but wish there were more flesh.

Not something I'd purposely travel just for it, but the seafood claypot porridge was quite shiok considering its price point and ingredients were fresh!
