The dish you see above is available for a VERY limited time only. I spotted it today at the food bazaar that springs up next to the Sultan Mosque during the month of Ramadan every year. However, I am sure that "Nasi Kerabu" can be found elsewhere anytime of the year too (does anyone have a good one to recommend?) Anyway, this is quite a light and healthy dish because everything is prepared in a relatively healthy way. For eg., the pieces of beef in the front are actually grilled. Next to that is a pile of steamed grated coconut with minced fish. This same mixture is used as stuffing for the red chilli behind. Then there's the salted egg, fish "keropok", raw vegetables and chilli sauces - all adding their unique flavours and textures to this very colourful plate. If you have time, take a trip down to have a taste before the bazaar comes to an end. Otherwise it will be another year before this dish is available again.
Here's some of the food from the Catered Lunch! Curry Vegetables | Rendang Chicken | Sweet Sauce Chicken. Love anything in spices and curries(:
