Went for the dinner set at One Prawn & Co, overall quite solid. What stood out for me was actually the desserts. The malt black ice cream damn nice, got that deep roasted flavour, not too sweet. Lemongrass ice kachang quite refreshing also, a bit different from the usual, good way to end the meal.
The prawns still good, fresh and sweet as expected. Tried some of the other dishes like the octopus, got spice but not too jelak. Whole experience feels quite well thought out, not just about one dish. Worth trying if you want something a bit more interesting than usual.
Had dinner at Sing Swee Kee yesterday and was quite impressed by how well they do their chicken rice! Fragrant rice paired with the most tender poached chicken really made a satisfying meal. We also had their hainan fen with spicy sauce, something you dont easily find outside. Very yummy and refreshing!
We had dinner at Shukuu Izakaya recently, and it was a very satisfying meal overall. The place has a cosy, lively vibe and feels like a proper Japanese izakaya with warm lighting and a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Good for winding down after a long day.
The garlic fried rice was surprisingly one of the highlights for me. Fragrant, not too oily, and packed with that wok hei flavour. Simple dish but done very well. The grilled pork was also excellent: nicely charred on the outside, juicy on the inside, and very flavourful. You can tell they know how to handle their grill.
We also shared the mixed sashimi platter (15 pieces) which was fresh and nicely presented. The cuts were thick and satisfying.
Overall, solid food, good portions, and a comfortable ambience. Would come back again for the grilled dishes and fried rice.
