Assam / Curry Fish Head 咖喱鱼头 🐟
Fresh and tender fish head in thick and lemak curry loaded with ingredients like okra, beancurd skin, brinjal, long bean and tomatoes, served in a bubbling and piping hot claypot in cold and rainy weather. The fish head was very meaty and the not-too-spicy curry goes well with rice 》$34
Unlike some stalls where they steam the fish and pour the curry over it, the fish head here is cooked directly in the claypot and infused with curry. The fish was fresh and the flesh was relatively firm and tender, accompanied by a generous amount of vegetables such as brinjal, okra, pineapple and tomatoes. The curry was sweet, tangy and mildly spicy but not lemak enough for me. It leans more toward assam curry where it's more sourish and less thick in texture 》$28
Fish head doused in fragrant curry and accompanied with an assortment of vegetables. The curry has a nice thickness and is well-balanced in flavours. Although the curry accompanying ingredients are good, it left me walking out feeling not too satisfied because the fish head was much smaller than usual. I’m not sure if this was the usual size of fish head or a downsized version because it’s on promo 》(U.P. $25)
No-frills tze char stall that serves a good selection of dishes. Food taste and prices are pretty decent compared to other tze char stores. I ordered the fish head curry that came thick and well balanced with generous servings of vegetables. The curry was not too spicy which makes an excellent pairing with rice. The fish was fresh but I’d prefer a more generous serving of fish 》$26 + $0.50 Rice
Fresh fish head in fragrant and well-balanced curry gravy with generous servings of vegetables. The curry was thick and creamy which makes for an excellent pairing with rice. I like how it was not too spicy and suited everyone especially for those who have a low tolerance for spicy food.
Pay this place a visit for their cheap and delicious Cantonese tze char. It can get really crowded on weekends hence it's better to make a reservation to avoid waiting during peak meal hours 》$26
This is a award winning signature dish at Gu Ma Jia. Fresh and succulent fish head complemented with Gu Ma Jia’s exclusive spicy and sour assam blend gravy. We all agrees that this is good but it’s on the spicy side and we could not fully enjoy this dish without gulping mouthfuls of water to overcome the spice and heat on our tongues 》$30
This was one of the better dishes we had. Comes with assorted vegetables and fresh fish head. The curry is not too spicy and comes with a distinct sour kick》$5/100gm

After trying their fish head steamboat some days back, I'm back to try their curry fish head.
A claypot of strong and vibrant curry that looks quite appetizing. Not too spicy but I think this could be better. I prefer my curry to have a slight sour taste in it. Fish is fresh but not much flesh.

I'm in a relationship with food. Why can't we just declare our never ending love and vows towards some food item? I'm sure that would not result in divorces.
