The sauce is so so so good that our whole family just had to order extra rice!

Thanks to Burppler @happygreedyfoodie, I got to learn about this place. Opened a couple of months ago at Sunshine Plaza, it is an eatery with a rather unique concept.
The owner Mr. Tan Min Li, who’s half Japanese and half Chinese, collaborates with a good mix of well-known F&B establishments across Japan to bring their signature creations to Singapore.
On my first visit, I chose a local specialty of Sendai in Northeastern Japan, the grilled Gyutan (Ox Tongue). It’s available on its own but I went for the Don version (since they use rice from Nigata prefecture) with Salted Spring Onion Sauce. It had 150gm of ox tongue and I really like how they cut it into thick, chunky pieces for a firm bouncy bite.
The accompanying two sauces were appetising in their own way. So I alternated dipping the ox tongue in the oil-based salted spring onion and the subtly spicy miso paste (this contains jalapeños) to get the best of both worlds. If you order the classic Gyutan Don which costs $1 less, you only get fresh lemon juice as a dip.
By the way, “Deli’s Kitchen” does delivery too, so do check out their Facebook page for their partners for that.

Price may be a little steep at $14 for two tiny croquettes, but you’re really paying for the quality here.

These little delights were so crispy, and not oily at all despite being served to the table freshly deep-fried. The filling itself was smooth and almost like cream (rather than mashed potatoes) and had chunks of Iberico ham. Flavour-wise, what came through was the sweetness of the creamy filling and a smokey savouriness from the ham.

They were also served on top of a little dollop of sauce that tasted like truffle mayonnaise, although the croquettes are delicious enough on their own without a need for any kind of condiment.

Light dessert to end the meal. You could taste the celery bits. But if you are not a fan of celery, you might not be fond of this dessert.

Every tapas meal is not complete without the classic croqueta, a breaded, deep-fried snack. You can’t go wrong with them and the nice part that it was crispy yet not oily at all. The creamy filling of Béchamel sauce and the generous bits of flavourful jamón are indeed a perfect paring.

The Onglet ($28/100g) is cooked to juicy tender perfection, topped with luscious chunks of creamy bone marrow, on a bed of intense burnt onion sauce which further accentuates the beef’s smoky flavour. Decadent, rich, and bound to dispel any silly thoughts you might be having about eating meat made from plants, which will probably never taste this good. @burntends_sg @dpynto @jakekellie

Established itself to be one of Asia’s most exciting places to dine in, @burntends_sg is a modern Australian BBQ restaurant that offers a rather casual dining experience, with counter seats looking directly into the open-concept kitchen. No joke you have to reserve up to 3 months in advance, especially for the Saturday slots!

Featured are the starters and a mind-blowing dessert to end off the meal on a charred yet sweet note.
👉Grissini & Taramasalata - SGD12
👉Smoked Quail Egg & Caviar - SGD15 (per egg)
👉Beef Marmalade & House Pickle - SGD14
👉Jamaican Chicken & Lime Crema - SGD10
👉Marshmallow - SGD2 (per stick)

Every dish was reasonably priced (except maybe for the Smoked Quail Egg & Caviar?) and so well-executed by the chefs. No doubt the explosion of smoky rich flavours when bitten into the egg was memorable, but for $15? I’d actually order another plate of Grissini & Taramasalata instead😂. The shatteringly crisp flatbread comes with a nice layer of salted fish roe and topped with a thick blanket of fresh chives & dill. Love this so so much!

If you think you know how to roast/bbq a marshmallow to perfection, I had to burst your bubble💭. Try theirs to believe it!

We were really impressed by this dish! Cheesecake was perfectly molten in the centre, with a nice charred top & passionfruit sauce, which helped to reduce the ‘jelatness’ of the whole cake. The crumble was also delicious, just wished that they could be more generous with it! We would definitely come back for this (but not the steak) HAHAHA

Don't let the snaking queue at this Korean diner stop you — if you're a fan of jjajangmyeon, it's gonna be a worthy wait! The Jjajangmyeon ($12) hits the spot with springy noodles slicked in dark and delicious black bean sauce. Also sure to satisfy, the Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup, $14) is served with a generous portion of prawns.

Widely known as a comfort food, the mac & cheese here has a crispy cheesy crust with a creamy gooey macaroni. Packed full of flavours with the differing mouthfeel texture, it perfectly complements with your steak, bringing you to food euphoria at the end of the meal.

It's uncustomary to speak of dessert at the start of a meal, but we can't help ourselves — Yàn's Chilled Mango Cream ($12) is THAT good. It comes served in a coconut, with vanilla ice cream and oats that give a welcome crunch to the silky smooth cream, and a bonus of coconut flesh to scoop out! Sweets aside, this chic restaurant (perfect for a lunch catchup with mom) at The National Gallery does a mean Peking Duck ($40 for half) with homemade crepes. The glistening skin nails the fine line between crisp and fat, and the delicate crepe barely holds everything together. The second course ($10 for half) sees the duck meat fried in black bean sauce and tossed in chilli powder, and is deliciously savoury with just the right hint of heat. You won't go wrong with the roast meats here — the Roast Crispy Chicken (from $23 for half) is a favourite with the Burpple community. For a refreshing approach, opt for the Omakase Lunch option ($60 for six courses) and let the chef dictate your meal. Pro tip: Get an order of their Steamed Custard Bun filled with Salted Egg Yolk ($6 for three pieces) and request for it to be deep fried instead. It is stunning.
Avg Price: $60 per person

Full of umami flavor with that just right stickiness of the bee hoon that made this easily the top dish of the night
