Takeaways!

located conveniently within the SMU campus, I’ve seen Onalu appear on my IG feed a couple of times, with their delicious looking bagels 😍 it was no wonder that I had to pop by on a weekend afternoon to grab some of these bagels for myself.

we ordered 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓲𝓰 𝓑𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝓯𝓪𝓼𝓽 ($14) and it was generously stuffed with bacon streaks, honey baked ham, hash brown, scrambled eggs, and cheddar & Monterey Jack cheese as well as their secret sauce.

however, when we took our first bite the combination struck us as weird, and it went downhill from there. the bagel was soaked in some sort of sweet tasting maple syrup and the ingredients just didn’t meld well together. the hash brown was also cold and soggy and tasted like it had been left out a long time. overall, it felt like it was a more expensive rendition of McGriddles but.. well we’ll stick with the OG.

was craving for sushi that day and popped by @donkisg for some sushi. ended up picking this 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐨 & 𝐔𝐧𝐢 𝐒𝐞𝐭 ($16).

the uni was really fresh and had a creamy and rich taste. 😋 the chutoro on the other hand, was much more mediocre and wasn’t that fresh! 😕

for its price, I would say it’s pretty worth esp if you’re looking for a quick sushi fix! I’ve heard from my friends that their uni isn’t that fresh sometimes so my advice is to go early when they just put it out 😬

Ordered this recently for a lunch to go and I was blown away by how fresh it was! I opted for the 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐤𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥, completed with their signature Yuzu Ume Brown Rice as the base. I also chose to add on 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐤𝐞 and a 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐀𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐨 for a filling meal.

Overall, I really enjoyed how fresh the salmon was and how generous the portions were! The salmon poke was also really nicely done and I enjoyed it tremendously.

Verdict: 8/10. I could barely finish my add-ons and was stuffed by the end of the meal. However, it is a tad bit pricey at $18.40! I do believe that if you just opt for the bowl on its own, its much more affordable and makes for a quick and good lunch especially if you’re in the CBD.
