located conveniently within the SMU campus, I’ve seen Onalu appear on my IG feed a couple of times, with their delicious looking bagels 😍 it was no wonder that I had to pop by on a weekend afternoon to grab some of these bagels for myself.
we ordered 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓑𝓲𝓰 𝓑𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝓯𝓪𝓼𝓽 ($14) and it was generously stuffed with bacon streaks, honey baked ham, hash brown, scrambled eggs, and cheddar & Monterey Jack cheese as well as their secret sauce.
however, when we took our first bite the combination struck us as weird, and it went downhill from there. the bagel was soaked in some sort of sweet tasting maple syrup and the ingredients just didn’t meld well together. the hash brown was also cold and soggy and tasted like it had been left out a long time. overall, it felt like it was a more expensive rendition of McGriddles but.. well we’ll stick with the OG.
