Local Dessert & Snacks
I found this small happiness at Malaysia Boleh! In AMK this weekend. I ordered Rojak in small size and was asked "Chilli or not?" As someone who favors spice, I promptly said yes, chilli!! š¶ Although this rojak isn't that spicy, it's packed with pineapple, you tiow, cucumber, mango, spinach etc. Well worth it I shall say. The sauce is sticky and well covered with peanuts. It delivers what I ask for (sweet treat with natural ingredients) although I have to be careful with its sweetness level.

Getuk Getuk (a dessert made with cassava/tapioca with grated coconut toppings ) VS. Getuk Ubi (with "sweeter" coconut toppings - in orange) are so addictive and one of our top lists in Bengawan Solo.
These 2 types of Getuks are available only in some outlets.
Est since 1954, Tai Cheong is very well known for their smooth textured egg tarts. Long queue for CNY takeaway but upon hearing from their crew that the durian & cheese tart is out of stock. The queue dissipates. One of our fav go to place for egg tarts as we prefer no burnt top and not too sweet type. Pandan tart > Classic > coconut
Kueh Lopes are in triangular shape and come with dark syrup. We use only half of the syrup. Very well covered in coconut flakes. It doesnāt have the filling. We prefer Kueh Buah Melaka.š
You can compare in our local dessert folder when we have this Pult Inti at Hougang Nyonya. Jian Bo ās butterfly pea flower rice and grated coconut has moist texture and not overly sweet. š
We split Pulut Inti into 2 pieces to share. Somehow if you munch on pulut Inti after having Shui Kueh, you might feel the snack tastes slightly bitter. The after taste is normal as their Shui Kueh is really spicy & yum!!
Day 20: āMission Completedā we browsed around AMK hub and found a few Kueh places (Bengawan, Jianbo TBR Shui Kueh, Teochew Kueh in Malaysia Boleh)but we wanna pick the special one to mark our last Kueh adventure before one of us embark on a road trip. š

This Durian Salat will do it! One of us is not a big fan as the smell is so strong for this one. You can totally smell it as you devour and it doesnāt matter how delicious it is!!šššš¤
Day 19: We enjoy getting our Kuehs at Toa Payoh outlet as the staffs are very friendly compared to another branch. Sometimes we lost count that itās been 19 Kuehs we had so far out of 20 Kuehs goal we set.
.
Getuk Ubi might not be everyoneās cup of tea as the tapioca/ cassava at the bottom is quite starchy (blame it on us that we put it in a fridge before sharing between us). Anyhow, the orangy grated coconut save the day for sweet tooth like us. Dear Getuk Ubi, we might revisit you again if we need some energy! šŖ
Day 18: Mellow texture both Green Pandan and coconut cream layers. Fell head over heels for this natural looking Kueh š
Day 17: A slight twist to Kueh Talam is this Talam Gula Melaka. Salty top (coconut milk, rice flour) and sweet bottom (gula Melaka) just like most things in life. šø
Day 16: May we go against the flow and enjoy this Lemper Udang. It is not everyone cup of tea for the savoury shrimp filling wrapped with glutinous rice. For those who love it salty and sweet, this one is for you! šš¤
Day 15: On day 13, we posted steamed Kueh Lapis with colorful layers. The original one looks somber with substance and slightly more expensive than the steamed one. Do we prefer it? āNoā. Do we need to pay more? āYesā
āWelcome to the Layer Cake son!āš
