burgers 🍔
The breakfast burger ($16++) is a hearty choice - brioche potato buns are stacked high with bacon, hash brown and fried egg. Really creamy with the inclusion of avocados and I loved the slight spicy kick from the tomato relish!
Operating solely in the northeast, this burger joint came highly recommended by a friend! The flame grilled cheeseburger ($11.80) features buttery soft buns topped with a Korean-inspired sauce, caramelised onions and a surprise slice of raddish. What’s most impressive is the patty - juicy and succulent with just the right balance of char and savoury flavours!
Hm Over Easy boasts of its burgers, but I don’t think the to-die for burger ($26++) lives up to its name. The potato buns were rather dense and lacked a crisp exterior whilst the wagyu patty was a tad dry and seemed like a regular store-bought slab. My favourite parts were probably the sautéed onions and mushrooms! Perhaps their other burgers will fare better.
There are limited seats available for reservation to cater for walk-ins! We managed to get a seat outdoors after queuing a short while - it was really enjoyable with the setting sun and evening breeze. Opted for the mexican burger ($24) - the double patty is layered with bacon, guacamole and jalapeño. Enjoyed the spiciness and medley of flavours!
Was quite excited to see that TCA finally had a beef burger on their menu, after removing their previous rendition some time ago! However, this classic burger ($26.75+) falls painfully short of its predecessor. Was initially pleased to find that the brioche buns were still crisp when I sliced into it, but I realised that the beefy patty was dry. It looks, feels and tastes like a frozen patty; the paltry slice of mediocre cheese on top further irked me. Am quite disappointed to say that the standard of food at TCA continues to drop even as prices increase.
Wasn’t expecting anything out of the ordinary from the Nassim Hill burger ($23++), but it surprised me with just how well done it was! The beef patty was tender, oozing with juices and fragrant with the scent of rosemary. The balsamic onions gave the perfect amount of acidity too! My only gripe is that I would have liked the buns to be fluffier and crispier - they felt a little stale, especially when laden with sauce.
This wagyu cheese burger ($26++) is surprisingly a notch above the rest! The beef patty had a beautiful medium rare interior, juicy and savoury. It is layered with maple glazed bacon, it’s sweetness giving dimension of flavour. Would have liked a stronger cheese but we enjoyed this greatly on a whole! Also had my all-time favourite crab pasta ($24++) - have read of some misses from other reviewers, but it never disappoints with its thick sauce and generous portion of crab meat.
Always balk at its ridiculously high prices (it is fast food, after all) but how could I resist a burger at its flagship store?? Opted for the Shake Stack ($14.30) this time - their penultimate burger. Comprising its signature potato buns with a juicy beef patty, flavour bursts in your mouth as you bite down on its fluffy exterior. The experience is elevated by the addition of a portobello mushroom topped with provolone cheese and encased in a crisp batter.. This is my very definition of a dirty burger 🌟
Have been back to working title multiple times, which surely says something! Tried the Baa-ger ($17.90++) this time. The lamb patty was surprisingly well seasoned and not gamey! It was topped by provolone cheese and the usual vegetables. Would have liked the garlic aioli to come through more evidently, but I really enjoyed the flavour of the patty! Do note that the prices are not consistent across their online, physical and ordering menus.
Winestone’s signature burger ($27++) sure has a following amongst its diners! It features brioche buns with onion marmalade and mustard. The wagyu patty was tender and juicy but slightly lacking in flavour. The portobello mushrooms actually overwhelmed most of the other components, including the cambert cheese.
Tried Cheese & Whiskers ($15.90+) within the same week and loved it so much! I’m a huge fan of cheese, and this hit all the right notes with its medley of mozzarella, cheddar and provolone. The beef patty oozes with flavour and is complemented by garlic aioli & sour ranch sauce!
Tried the Baconator ($17.90+, front)! It features the standard beef patty with beef bacon, caramelised onions and garlic aioli. Found the bacon a bit too thick and tough and the aioli lacking in flavour, but I love working title’s patties! It never fails with its juicy goodness. The duck burger ($17.90+, back) comprises smoked duck with a charcoal bun.
