Stepping into Hong Kong Cha Kee feels like a delightful experience. The café is bustling yet cozy, with traditional decor, and the warm scent of familiar Cantonese dishes wafting through the air. The chatter of patrons adds to the vibrant atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for both couples and families.
The staff are friendly and attentive, balancing the fast pace with genuine hospitality. Our server was quick to recommend popular dishes.
I started with the Seafood Hor Fun , which were beautifully charred. The shrimp were fresh, complemented by a hint of soya sauce.
The highlight, however, was the Coffee. The aroma took me back to the days of my time having breakfast with a few pals in Hong Kong. “You can leave Hong Kong, but it will never leave you” -Nury Vittachi

Nestled in the heart of Bras Basah, Gunther's effortlessly encapsulates the essence of classic French cuisine with a modern twist. Stepping through its doors, you’re greeted by a sumptuous blend of vintage charm and contemporary sophistication, setting the stage for a truly memorable dining experience.
The menu at Gunther's is a celebration of French culinary tradition, elevated by innovative techniques and fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The appetizers set a high bar, with the Cold Angel Hair Pasta served with a Oscietra caviar being a standout. It’s a rich, velvety start that perfectly whets the appetite.
For the main course, the Pork Jowl is a testament to the chef’s prowess. The jowl is tender and infused with deep, robust flavors from the raspberry reduction sauce, while the accompanying root vegetables add a delightful sweetness. The dish is served with a creamy, perfectly seasoned potato purée that complements the rich sauce beautifully.
Desserts are not to be missed, with the Apple Pie taking center stage. This classic French dessert is executed to perfection, with caramelized apples atop a buttery, flaky pastry crust that provides a satisfying contrast to the Rum Raisin ice cream.
Overall Gunther's is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience that celebrates the art of French dining. With its elegant atmosphere, exceptional service, and exquisitely crafted dishes, it stands as a shining example of culinary excellence.
The phrase “Fruits de mer” (Fruits of the sea) came to mind when we first laid eyes on the dish. The prawn noodles we order are all about celebrating the best seafood one has to offer. From the richness of the broth to peeled plump prawns and sweet succulent shellfish, Zhup Zhup signature prawn noodles has a touch of modernity to cater to the young while still keeping the traditions to cater to the experienced. It was indeed a fruits de mer in a bowl, a gastronomic sensation in a quiet corner of Macpherson.
Drop by this casual dining spot on Tanjong Pagar Road for authentic Korean grub. Order their famous Jjajangmyeon ($12, $2 for more noodles) for soft noodles bathed in a luscious sweet and salty black bean sauce. Otherwise, opt for the soupier but equally delicious Jamppong ($14) that sees noodles in a spicy seafood broth that is incredibly addictive. For larger groups, fill the table with their delectable Ginseng Chicken Soup ($18), Seafood Spring Onion Pancake ($20) and Steam Egg ($5). To avoid waiting, come during off peak hours.
