I love unagi and this was good but not one of the better ones I have tried. It would be good to have more unagi (there were too much rice imo) as well.
Utilized BB 1 for 1 so it was worth ($10/pax before GST & svc charges) but wouldn’t pay the full price for it... Do note that the deal is only applicable for donburi but the menu is not as extensive irl as compared to what was shown online as q a few were marked out. There was also no wagyu beef donburi which we wanted to try when we went yesterday.
The Burpple Premium Set consists of 2 pieces of yakitori, soup of the day, salad, hot/iced green tea and a main (to choose from a special menu). Green tea is refillable at no extra cost.
Left: Mentaiyaki Kaisendon
Right: Kei Signature Kaisendon
The difference between the 2 dons is the mentaiko sauce. I love the mentaiko sauce, goes so well with the raw seafood and rice! There are also a few ways to eat the dish and they have instructions showing you how. Very filling meal~ Used BB 1 for 1 so paid $31.99 in total.
Decent bowl of ramen at an affordable price tucked away at the 4th level of Beauty World Food Centre. Broth is not as flavourful as other ramen stores but egg & meat are yummy~
The whole bowl was very flavourful, with the eggs, bacon, yakiniku sauce and japanese rice making a good combination. Plentiful of rice hence very filling but the bacon could be more generous.
P/S: For BB, only 60 deg chicken breast, porky bowl and seafood aglio olio available to choose from the mains and only ice lemon tea and ginger lemonade available to choose from the drinks. Wish it could be extended to others as well...
However, the interior of the cafe is very aesthetically pleasing and one can easily spend the whole day there reading a book or just chilling!
Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen ($11.80, above) was not bad in terms of the noodles but my dining partner mentioned a bitter taste from the soup which was not fancied.
Beef Onsen Egg Curry Udon ($11.60, below) was yummy. I love the thick curry (not spicy at all) which went well with the udon, beef and egg. Wanted to try the Sanuki Beef Egg Udon at first but it was not available. :(
Can’t see much from the photo as we have loaded our bowls with lots of crunchy tempura bits, soft wakame and spring onions, which are self-service and FOC. Water is also self-service & FOC.
Best part- no GST & service charge so what you see is what you will pay. We paid $13.60 in total (inclusive of drinks not shown here, which was part of the deal) after utilizing BB 1 for 1- extremely worth for yummy and affordable Jap food!!
Ordered the truffle wagyu don (large, $27.90) and it was yummy! Slightly salty for me but the beef pieces were extremely tender, the egg went so well with the rice and beef... every mouthful was sooo good. Very filling as well!
Used BB 1 for 1 so it was $15.35 per pax. Would go back again.
Ordered the all toppings mazesoba (bottom, $15.80) and char siew mazesoba (top, $13.80). I personally like the noodles (thick, chewy, QQ) and sauce, and there is also a free upsize option to 1.5x noodles. Quaint Japanese eatery right outside Bugis MRT- it wasn’t crowded at all on a Saturday afternoon.
Total for 2 pax: $18.60 using BB 1 for 1.
Do note that you can only order 1 all toppings mazesoba if you are using BB.
Meat was juicy, broth was thick, noodles were springy! Esp. love the spicy ramen as it gave a good kick.
Total for 2 pax= ~$19 after using BB 1 for 1.
Would be better if BB could be extended to tendons or more varieties of ramen. Currently, the BB is only applicable for 4 ramens.
