So when Butter & Spice invited us to try authentic North Indian cuisine, we were not sure what to expect.
And we were pleasantly surprised. In fact, my reaction to B while tasting the dishes was exactly this: āWow! This can be pretty good!ā
The marination on the Tandoori Chicken was just right, and the meat was grilled to perfection.
The Aloo Gobi was pretty awesome too. The cauliflower and potato in a fragrant gravy went really well with the naan and rice.
We also had the Prawn Chatpata, where juicy prawns were soaked in a distinctive curry base that tasted both sweet and savoury.
If you are concerned about a surfeit of heavy-tasting dishes, order a Mango Lassi (mango, yogurt and milk, served chilled) to cleanse your palate, and you can be on your way to indulge in the food again.
Do also give the Masala Chai (masala spices, tea and milk) a try if you are looking for something stronger than the usual āteh tarikā.
Now Iām looking forward to having authentic Indian cuisine again š
Thanks to Butter & Spice for hosting us!
Tandoori Chicken (half) - $11.50
Aloo Gobi (set meal, comes with naan and a bowl of rice) - $10.00
Prawn Chatpata - $14.00
Mango Lassi - $2.90
Masala Chai - $1.50

There was a long queue, but that didnāt deter us from getting in lineš. We had the Lobster Nest (grilled half-lobster with garlic noodles) ($38) as well as the Lobster Truffle Fries ($18). The lobster in the Lobster Nest was pretty good, but P and I both felt that the noodles were too dry; weird considering we heard rave reviews about it. Perhaps itās just the batch we had. Fries were not bad, though I felt that the truffle taste could be stronger.
Of course, I have to give a special mention to the wines and sakes at the event! We had our fill tasting award-winning wines and sakes at almost every booth and left feeling lighter and happierš

I have been wanting to try the food from this Michelin-starred restaurant, and was happy to know that it would have a booth at the event. Even though the food was served on plastic bowls/plates, I was happy they were still nicely plated and rather photogenic. The Roast Duck Breast with berries, oxalis and sauce royale and Foie Gras were pretty good. Though I wasnāt completely bowled over, but well, Iām not complaining for the price tag of $15 per dishš
Will talk more about what else we had separately:) #sgfood #sgfoodlover #sgfoodtrend #sgfoodporn #sgfoodstagram #foodstagram #instafood #foodphotography #sgfooddiary #sgfoodies #sgfoodblogger #instafoodsg #foodsg #foodiesg #sgeats #sgrestaurant #michelin #michelinstar #finedining #rws #foodfestival #wineanddine #burpple #singaporeinsiders #sgeats
To be safe, I think u hv to start queuing at 10.30am?š I can see why itās so popular though. The char siew is the blackish charred type and not the type with the red artificial colouring. The char together with the fattiness of the char siew is just so awesomeš The noodles were also smooth and didnāt become soggy even though I only ate it one hour after it was packed. The wanton and roast pork were okay, but nothing spectacular. If you are at the stall and the char siew is sold out, you may wish to try the roast duck; itās not bad too!

Eventually settled on this as it didnāt have a queue haha. This was actually my first time trying Keisukeās tendon restaurant as I have been a loyal supporter of Tendon Kohaku (when I decide to have tendon, which isnāt that often). I had the Deluxe Tendon ($19.90) while P had the Special Tendon ($13.90). I think prices are slightly cheaper than at Tendon Kohaku (if my memory doesnāt fail me). The serving was generous, and taste-wise, not bad too, though Iām still more partial to Tendon Kohaku). But still definitely worth a try if u like tendon (and are a late bloomer like me who hasnāt tried it yet). Also, at least thereās another option at Paya Lebar when the rest of the Keisuke restaurants there are packed (like the ramen one beside - I guess Singaporeans are still much bigger fans of ramen generally). #sgfood #sgfoodlover #sgfoodtrend #sgfoodporn #sgfoodstagram #foodphotography #sgfooddiary #sgfoodies #sgfoodblogger #instafoodsg #foodsg #foodiesg #sgeats #sgrestaurant #japaneserestaurant #japanesefood #sgjapanesefood #japanesedon #tendon #tempura #keisuke #payalebar #burpple #singaporeinsiders
Not only is the ice cream at this neighbourhood ice cream cafe cheaper than most other cafes, it is open till the wee hours (more specifically, 2am)!
We had two generous scoops of ice cream that day (both premium flavours: Macadamia Popcorn and Dark Chocolate). Both scoops were so yummy... š
Already thinking of eating their waffles and their blue Cookie Monster ice cream the next time Iām here!
Lonely (1 scoop) - $3.50
Buddy (2 scoops) - $6.00
Add 80 cents/scoop for premium flavours

We visited this place while there was an anniversary one-for-one promotion on the Guilty Pleasure Bowl (Japanese Wagyu, ikura, uni, caviar, foie gras and onsen egg š) or the Kabuke Pleasure Bowl (with Australian Wagyu instead). We chose the Guilty Pleasure Bowl.
Although the bowl was not huge, servings of foie gras and uni were generous, and the wagyu beef slices were cooked to a tender perfection.
There was also happy hour one-for-one sake and very reasonably priced bar bites.
B was beaming from ear to ear with the promos š
Guilty Pleasure Bowl - $88
90ml glass of sake - $12
Bites (chicken wings and salted egg renkon chips) - 2 for $6

Was at Star Vista looking for dinner places and thinking āhow boring itās always the same few placesā when I saw this place - so this was it; at least it would be a breath of fresh air. The first thing I realised was that prices are very reasonable; most mains were below $20. So we happily ordered and were also glad to find out that there was a promo that an order of at least 2 mains came with truffle fries (limited to a certain number of portions per day). Honestly, for the price, I was expecting mediocre western food as many places with this price point do really serve unremarkable food (sorry if Iām too honest haha), but I was left pleasantly surprised. When the food came, I already thought they looked pretty good. Then came the taste test. My favourite was the duck confit, for which the meat was tender and the skin nice and crispy. The salmon, cooked to medium, was not bad too and my mum sang praises of it. As for the aglio olio, as you can see from the photo, the biggest draw would probably be the generous ingredients for the price of $11.90. Taste was pretty good as well. Truffle fries were so-so, but since they were complimentary, Iām not complaining.
Swipe to see the dishes on the menu we ordered. I also had a beer, which cost $8.90 (I think). #sgfood #sgfoodlover #sgfoodtrend #sgfoodporn #sgfoodstagram #foodstagram #instafood #foodphotography #sgfooddiary #sgfoodies #sgfoodblogger #instafoodsg #foodsg #foodiesg #sgeats #sgrestaurant #sgcafe #sgcafehopping #cafe #salmon #duckconfit #aglioolio #pasta #trufflefries #beer #starvista #hiddenfinds #burpple #singaporeinsiders #sgeats
In its place now is a Western cafe/restaurant. It was completely empty, which made me a little hesitant to try it (cos typically no customers= not nice). Googled for some reviews but could hardly find anything, but eventually decided to take the plunge to try it out of hunger haha. This fortunately turned out to be a good decision! The food tasted as good as they look in the photos. The meat of the Whole Grilled Snapper had a firm texture (which I like) and its sauce was tasty. It was also nice that its portion was big, which made it great for sharing. The steak (of the Steak and Fries) was nicely cooked and there was nothing to complain about (for the price at least). The star of the night had to be the fries though. It was superrrr crispy (I really dunno how they made it that crispy) and we polished it off even though it was not soaked in any fancy truffle oil. If uāre fan of skinny fries, Iām pretty sure u would enjoy this! Rather satisfied with this hidden find and I really do think they deserve better business (in case uāre wondering, nope Iām not paid to say this hahaha). If uāre in the area, do pop by to give it a try!
Prices are in the menu in photos 3 and 4.

Couldnāt decide what to eat at Amoy Street, and just randomly decided on this when we walked past it. I had previously only tried the outlet at Robertson Quay (which has since closed) and that was umpteen years ago, so I didnāt mind giving this a try. The octopus was pretty good (but then again Iām a fan of octopus and love it in general haha). The steak was not bad, but I think doneness-wise, it was a little too cooked (note: we chose medium rare). Generally, food quality was pretty decent, though there wasnāt a particular wow factor. Still, a nice place to chill out with friends especially when there is good wine (for which the distinction became stark when we went over to wine connection later on and had cheap wineš). Rib Eye Steak (ARG)- 300g $66
Grilled Octopus $34
Choice of 2 Empanadas (we had the Hand Cut Beef and Braised spork Belly) $15
Hand Cut Chips $10
Dulce de leche Creme BrƻlƩe and Banana Split ice cream $17
Glass of Sauvignon Blanc (Babich) $17

Considering how FOMO I am (as P always says), I surprised myself by taking so long to try it given how this grilled fish thingy was in-thing when it just opened (and is still popular)š @owyongxxv and I ordered the Grilled Fish with Green Pepper - Limbo Fish ($45.90), adding the Golden Combination ($12.90), consisting of golden mushrooms, potato, lotus roots and crab stick (for our case the lotus roots were not available and thus replaced with seaweed). When the fish just came, my first thought was āoopsie I donāt think we can finish itā. True enough, it felt like the fish meat was never-ending. We eventually didnāt manage to finish the fish, as it was really quite a lot. We almosttttt did though, and were left feeling stuffed.
Taste-wise, I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. I generally avoid overly spicy food as I feel that the spice overwhelms the taste of the food and results in me being unable to properly enjoy and savour its taste, but in this case, I felt that the flavour we ordered was tasty in a rather addictive manner and not overly spicy (note: still spicy but bearable and I can still properly taste the food). Of course, if you are a big fan of the feeling of burn on your tongue, there are other spicier flavours for you to choose from. If you canāt take spicy, there are also non-spicy flavours catering to you. For this kind of grilled fish though, I think some spice is good for the kickš
We then washed it all down with some chilled Erdingerš

So off we headed here for date night on Friday. The Pelican Lobster Burger ($68) was our indulgence for the night. Itās kind of pricey for a burger (though thereās lobster, I know) if thereās no promo, but with the 1-for-1 promo, it was still rather reasonably priced. The lobster chunks were sizeable and pretty juicy. Coupled with the cheese and bacon within the burger as well as the pillowy bun, this made for a rather satisfying Friday night meal. Definitely left with a happier tummy than I did the previous time (canāt remember what I ordered that time). We also had wine (think we ordered Chardonnay; sorry my memory is failing meš), which was also 1-for-1 during Happy Hour (till 9pm)! Guess this also makes for a pretty good place for a drinks night out with a view of Marina Bay if you choose to be seated al frescoš
