As a yolk-pr0n egg lover, I couldn't pass up the Wagyu Truffle Beef Hor Fun ($32++ Small, pictured / $58++ Large). Coupled with the fact that it has everything I love in a bowl.

While I found the presence of truffle lacking in this dish, it made up for it on other fronts: Silky smooth noodles & tender slices of wagyu beef, tied together by a copious amount of rich sauce to tantalize your taste buds.

After this was served to our table, our waitress broke the yolk & mixed everything nicely for us. So get your phones/cameras out for a nice video opportunity, & some oohs & aahs....

I was pleasantly surprised by the Wasabi Prawn with Tobiko ($26++ Small, pictured / $48++ Large). Several places over-fry the prawns & they end up being dry on the inside, overly oily on the outside... But not The Dragon Chamber.

This small portion was enough for 2 pax to share. The batter was light & crispy, & the sautéed de-shelled prawns remained juicy with a firm bite to them. Wasabi sauce was more creamy than spicy; I would've liked more of a kick to it, but that isn't a crime. Lots of tobiko atop each piece for that added crunch. Would order this again.

Admittedly, I was drawn to The Dragon Chamber because of how fascinating it is to enter the premises - through what looks like a fridge door.

I was on the hunt for a Chinese restaurant to bring my tourist friend from the US to. The interior seats here looked comfortable enough for a good catch up session. & indeed, it was... Not too noisy as well, as the tables were spaced out nicely.

There are several unique, head-turning items on their menu, e.g. Dragon Claw ($60++), D*** Soup ($30++) (just a crocodile's penis in soup), Flaming Pineapple Beef ($32++), but for the less adventurous there are regular, tasty options to choose from. & vegetarian options as well.

Can’t decide what I love more about Lean Bento - that their food is delicious & healthy, or that they constantly innovate to keep things fresh & exciting.

This festive season, check out their unique Lo Hei specialties, served from 14 Jan - 26 Feb 2021 (excluding Sun), in the various portion sizes that you need.

Pictured here is the Plentiful Wealth Lo Hei Gift Box for 1 pax - yes, that’s right, I can lo my own hei by myself! Perfect for my solo dinner on a busy work day. This $29.88 deal comes with a set of cutlery & a bottle of water. TBH, I’m not hot about disposables, but I acknowledge the convenience if you want to eat this outside of home.

It’s presentable too, which makes it great as a gift. With an ingredient cheering label in Chinese on the inside of the cover, that gets plus points for convenience (but remember, don’t flout the rules this CNY)

More importantly, it’s delicious & healthy 😄 My favourite ingredient is the freshwater unagi. A great substitute to the traditional sashimi that you’d usually find - a particularly meaningful replacement for me as I can’t eat raw fish.

To me, this is the star of the show. Grilled lovingly & with a velvety smooth texture, it glides down your throat for that oomph shiok factor. Against a bed of fresh homemade ingredients - julienned carrot, white radish, dragonfruit cubes, golden egg crepe, citrus & melon strips, & so on. Topped off with a great miso dressing - there is no lingering saccharine taste from the sweet sauce in traditional lo heis. With such complementary flavours, I actually used up the whole sauce portion - which I normally don’t, but this was too good to pass up.

Might I add, also - the golden crackers, a hot crowd favourite? These are low-fat, tasty & guilt-free. I mean, I don’t count calories... But for what it’s worth, this dish in its entirety is under 650kcal a serving, with Protein 35g, Carbohydrate 62g, Fat 29g, Fibre 8g.

Thank you Charleswanmushi for sending over this Lean Bento gift box! A great start to the oxpicious new year 🤩

I got to know of 小彭客家菜 Pang's Hakka Delicacies through Veronica Phua, whose recommendations I trust very much. Hakka cuisine isn't something I eat often, but I do enjoy a good Thunder Tea Rice 擂茶饭. It's quite a polarizing dish; some will say it tastes too healthy (lol), others are addicted to it.

My mum is a fan of it, so I ordered a portion of Leicha ($7/set) for her & myself. It is only available with brown rice (#health) & has a minimum order of 5 sets. If you can't finish all 5 sets, you can keep them in the fridge for a bit - or bless your neighbours with some a delicious contactless-food-delivery surprise!

You really get quality ingredients in this bowl with a thicccc green tea sauce. Yes, I called it a sauce - not a soup or broth, because it is that thick & chock full of flavours.

My dad isn't a fan of Thunder Tea Rice (he doesn't like little nibblies in his rice), so I ordered a portion of Hakka Mee Tai Mak ($7 for 250g, $24 for 1kg) for him. He happily slurped it up, though admittedly this is a small portion for a big eater like him. The Leicha is definitely a more filling dish!

I had to order their Abacus Seeds 算盘子 ($9 for 250g, $31 for 1kg) for all to share. Doughy soft & super fragrant, these were the best we've ever had. Heated all our dishes up the moment I got home, & my mum was so pleased with this meal that she now wants to make friends with Chef Pang. Hallo mother, people very busy cooking don't disturb them hor.

Check out their menu on their social media platforms, & WhatsApp them your order at least 2 days in advance. I opted for self-collection instead of delivery, & it was a fuss-free experience stepping into Antoinette to pick up my meal. There is ample street-side parking so I could easily do this on my own. Cash on delivery, all you need is the order number.

Pang's Hakka Delicacies has made one family very happy today!

Don't you just love it with you get to have a good meal & optimize your returns for eating out?

Case in point: Clicked through Shopback to make a booking here via Eatigo = $1.50 cashback. At the time I dined, the Eatigo discount was a cool 40% = even more savings!

Ordered my bowl of Marinated Beef Shank Noodles ($7.90+); was impressed that you can add more noodles to your order FOR FREE #carbsoncarbs.
Boosted my cashback on Shopback to 10%; paid with my linked OCBC credit card & was tracked instantaneously.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't the best bowl of beef noodles ever. The beef slides are fairly thin (though delicious). I think the additional noodles meant that my soup was absorbed by them extra quickly, too. But the noodles are well made, what little I tasted of the soup was refreshing & tasty. & the chilli I added to my bowl was shiok!

Overall, it was a comforting bowl of noodles in this cold weather, & was a very affordable meal for me. & yes, I would dine here again. They have some other options like tomato soup bases & dry mushroom sauce noodles that I'd be keen to try.

Purchased Chope vouchers to Imperial Feast Restaurant. Made a reservation on Chope & was looking forward to dining there.

As of the time of purchase, Chope's FAQ webpage states that the vouchers "can be used to offset the entire bill, after GST and service charge". There also weren't any additional/special terms & conditions on the Imperial Feast Restaurant Chope voucher webpage that stated otherwise. These 2 statements held true at the time of dining as well.

However, at the time of ordering food, apparently GST & service charge were NOT covered by the vouchers. This was confirmed upon multiple enquiries to the staff & also the manager Sabrina.

Not sure what's up with the discrepancy, but it sure felt like this was Imperial Treasure's ploy to trick unknowing customers into ordering more food there.

I have been a loyal & very happy user of Chope so far & will continue to use them albeit a bit more warily when purchasing vouchers.

This has unfortunately made for a very unpleasant & embarrassing experience hosting overseas guests here. GST & service charge doesn't add up to be a huge sum of money, but it's enough for me to take my business elsewhere.

I found the 2 dishes we ordered from the Griddle Cooked Dish menu fairly ordinary. I didn't like how the Stewed Chicken en Casserole with Three Cups Sauce 砂锅三杯鸡 ($15.80++) used bone-in chicken, but that's really because I'm a lazy eater.

My grandpa seemed to enjoy it though, perhaps it reminded him of my late grandma.

The Egg White with Scallop, Crab Meat & Broccoli 京都赛螃蟹 ($22.80++, Medium) was a hefty medium portion. We were advised to add vinegar to the mix & toss it around for better flavours - which is a great idea to bring the flavours out.

There actually isn't much broccoli inside as I though there'd be, but a whole lot of shredded scallop, crab meat & egg white in the middle. When we were done with the broccoli, we "saved" the remaining white mix to mix in to our fried rice 😂

The Double Boiled Soup with Amaranth 金银蛋上汤枧菜 ($15.80++) was comforting, but nothing spectacular.

I do wish they'd served the fried rice first so we could eat all these dishes with the rice.... But the 2x fried rice came last.

The Shrimp Cabbage Pie 虾皮圆白菜素馅饼 ($10.00++, 4 pieces) was another appetizer that we ordered - it came on a plate of 3. My mum was quick to notice it, but by the time she voiced it out they were already preparing a 4th one in the kitchen. Kudos to them for that.

I am not a fan of fried food, but I ate a quarter of this & found myself reaching for another quarter. Yes, it's oily because it's fried, but IMHO there was a nice balance between the crispy exterior & doughy interior, as well as a good ratio between the dough & the ingredients inside. These were served piping hot & fresh as well. Not bad!

The Preserved Eggs Beancurd 皮蛋豆腐 ($5.80++) was a light & easy appetizer that was served to us first. The pungent yet creamy century egg contrasts well with the silky soft beancurd. The chilli sauce is also pretty bomb; tingles slightly on my I-only-selectively-eat-somewhat-spicy-food tongue in a welcoming way.

Great way to kick start your meal, though I felt the ratio of ingredients was disproportionate. Would've loved more century egg to go with my beancurd.
