how can we not! 🍞☕️🇭🇰

We found Kowloon restaurant at the corner of a small lane along Hennessy Road. Walking past its fully loaded bakery shelf every day was a torture...so we decided to pop in one day for tea! .
.
We had their ICE-FIRE POLO BUN ❄️🔥which turned out to be a huge polo bun accompanied by an ice cold slab of butter. Yum yum yum, especially when paired with a classic milk tea! It’s worth mentioning that the polo buns here were slightly lighter when compared to Kam Fung (see previous post). So if that’s your thing, yknow where to go 😉
.
.
Bonus: They have the friendliest staff that are sure to leave you with a smile and a happy belly!! This place is a little more special to us because it was where we first successfully ordered our food in canto 😂
Step 2 - Share a table with complete strangers. Step 3 - Order freshly baked polo buns, scrambled eggs with ham, and milk tea 🍞🍳🍖☕️

We heard great things about Kam Fung cafe (金鳳茶餐廳) so we decided to give it a shot and well, pretty sure this is as authentic as it gets! The simple yet tasty food together with the never ending flow of customers and staff made this a unique experience that we really enjoyed 😌
.
.
So if you’re looking for an authentic Cha Chaan Teng experience that serves fuss-free comfort food, check this place out 🙌🏻
.
Time and time again we’ve been disappointed with stalls that serve skimpy wontons that turned out to be 90% wonton skin and only 10% filling. But over at Mak Man Kee noodle, it seems like it’s the other way round. Each wonton is generously filled with an ENTIRE tiger prawn with some minced pork 🍤😱
.
.
After our meal there, “how to make Hong Kong wontons” might’ve been googled a little too much by the both of us 😂
.
After ordering the usuals like Har Gow, Siew Mai, we find that the dim sum here is comparable to the better ones in Singapore WITH THE EXCEPTION of this Char Siew polo bun (菠萝叉烧包). Crunchy and crumbly on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside. Throw in moist and flavourful char siew, and we were in dim sum heaven 🥺😇
To start our morning right, we went straight to Chinatown to search for some at Granny’s Pancake 😋
.
.
Peanut butter? Coconut? Peanut? Red bean? Or if you’re like us and can’t decide, just order everything 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♀️
.
.
Our favourite has gotta be the classic peanut with a generous amount of peanut butter 🥜🥞 don’t you wanna just sink your teeth into all that goodness 😍
We also love good coconuty homemade kaya. French toast with homemade kaya? Now that’s what we’re talking about 🍞🍳🍯🤤 Kudos to whoever thought of replacing maple syrup with kaya to create this mouthwatering sweet-savory combination. Tong Ah’s twist on this classic western breakfast is absolute 🔥
Easily one of the best 菜头粿 in town 😍
Stack em’ up baby! 🥞🍇🍯

We’re on a mission to find the best pancakes in town and @clintonst_sg has easily made it into our list of go-to-pancake-joints! The soft and airy pancakes comes with a choice of blueberries, banana and walnut or chocolate chunks but we decided to go for their best seller (blueberries) and found ourselves in pancakes paradise after the first bite. Yes, such a place exists ☺️
.
.
So if you’re new to the pancake scene, START HERE. You won’t regret it ✌🏻
.
@songfabkt serves authentic teochew style pork ribs which was absolute 🔥🔥🔥. Compared to other places which tend to have overly chewy ribs, this one was sooooo tender! While you’re there, try ordering the complimentary dishes like pig innards, salted veg and peanuts because its really good as well! ☺️
.
.
Pshh, if you’re a fan of the peppery soup, you should definitely try it out because they’re constantly topping up your soup - FOR FREE 🎉
.
Min Chiang Kueh 面煎粿 is essentially a Peanut Pancake that all Singaporeans grew up eating, and we’re glad we stumbled across pancake king at Serangoon Garden because they do it really well. It’s crispy on the outside but soft and doughy on the inside. Paired with a handful of peanuts and you’re good to go 🤤
.
.
They prepare fresh batches several times a day so you should definitely wait for the fresh ones 🔥
