Perhaps this can mark the start of a vege series here LOL⁣

Veggie Burger [RM19.50]⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✨: To my surprise, Nando’s vege option turned out great! The patty composed of black beans, carrots, and other greens, and made for a nice pairing with the tangy peri-peri sauce. ⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣💬: Though the menu description mentioned a yogurt sauce, I barely tasted or took notice of any. I reckon as well that the burger would be fine (or even better) without the top bun. All it added was additional dryness to my bites. ⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Would happily order this again if the situation calls for a vegetarian meal! ⁣

Shrimp Fried Rice [RM17.90]⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✨: Din Tai Fung’s fried rice has got to be one of my favourite foods. The plump crystalline shrimp nicely complements the fragrant egg fried rice. Every grain of rice wears a charred golden coating, is distinct from each other, yet perfectly moist. This is comfort food 😭💗. ⁣

Basically the valedictorian of fried rice university 🤓 I'll make it a life goal to replicate it... one day...⁣

Vegetarian Banh Mi [RM14.50; RM17.30 (w/ tax)]⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✨: It was nice to see a veggie option on the menu. This tofu banh mi was what enticed me to dine here anyway. ⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣💬: Was sadly really disappointed though. The menu described a tofu patty with mushroom pate, but what I got was more of a tofu and mushroom mince (as pictured). It could be my misinterpretation but nonetheless, my expectations were let down. The bread, too, could not salvage the dish. It was almost too crispy and hollow. For the price that I paid, too, I’d rather get a Subway sandwich (says a lot LOL). ⁣

You can give An Viet a pass if you’re a herbivore 🤠

Veggie Spring Roll with Vermicelli ⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✨: Spring Rolls with Vermicelli remains one of my favourite Vietnamese dishes for how zesty and refreshing it is. The crispy spring rolls are the star of the dish while the veggies and rice noodles soak up all that appetizing sauce. Any heaviness typically present in fried foods is undercut by the fresh zing of the rolls’ accompaniments. ⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
I definitely wouldn’t say Pho Vietz serves the most authentic Vietnamese fare but I do get a good meal out of the establishment every time I dine here! ⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Kitsune Udon [RM⁣9.80]⁣
⁣⁣
✨: I love love love all things with abura-age (fried thin tofu)-- inari sushi, kitsune soba, and of course, kitsune udon! It's hard to mess kitsune udon up. Fun fact, kitsune’s literal translation to Japanese is ‘fox’ 🦊⁣⁣

📷 In frame: ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Signature Nasi Lemak ⁣

✨: Opted for the coconut millet rice over regular brown rice (because come on it’s nasi lemak!!), and was impressed by how fragrant the rice was. Every element of the dish contributed to a balance of textures of flavours: richness from the rendang, spice from the sambal, crunch from the rice chips, freshness from the veggies, and acidity from the achar. Out of all the sides, I especially enjoyed the lion’s mane mushroom rendang. The stringy texture of the mushroom not only mimics that of meat but allows it to hold on to the delicious sauce. Paired with some rice, it’s the perfect mouthful! ⁣

Double Scoop Waffle w/ Earl Grey & Belgian Chocolate [RM17.00]⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✨: One can never go wrong with ice cream and waffles. Unlike a certain popularised ice cream parlour, the waffles at Fat Baby put up a strong front against melting ice cream. Instead of turning soggy, the warm, fluffy waffle melds with the cool, velvety ice cream to create what I call ultimate happiness :D The earl grey was fragrant while the Belgian chocolate was just the right amount of decadent. ⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣💬: Fat Baby only opens on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Someone, please explain this business model to me AHAHHA ⁣

I love you, Fat Baby. At this rate, I’ll soon become one. ⁣

Regular Bowl [RM15.90]⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣💬: All I really have to say is I hate falafel. There's this weird aftertaste that I can't put my finger on. Make me change my mind. You can't. ⁣Just look at it 💩⁣

✨: It was love at first bite when I first got to try these as a side to my Geisha burger a few months back. The tangy lime sauce and the fragrant, toasty serunding bits (dried meat floss) made for a combination I never knew I needed. The fries, especially when warm, were crisp on the outside and perfectly mushy(? can't think of a better adjective) on the inside. ⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣
Not sure if it's a permanent menu item so if it's gone I'll be a sad bean HAHAH ⁣

Prawn + Char Siew + Egg Fried Rice [RM9.50] ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
✨: Portions were pretty generous, with each bite bound to contain a piece of meat. I particularly enjoyed the combination of the crispy fried egg, soy sauce, and the fragrant rice.⁣

💬:⁣⁣ However, the price tag is pretty hefty for a hawker meal. Also have to add that the char siew pieces tasted quite old and unfresh (not sure if it's a one-off thing). ⁣
⁣⁣⁣
In short, a sinful and satisfying meal but certainly not the best fried rice I've had. ⁣

DIY Rabbit Salad [RM16.40] ⁣ ⁣⁣ [halal]⁣ ⁣⁣⁣

✨: Plus point of the salad is definitely the health aspect.
Like, come on, it’s a salad. I have to commend the portion size too. This bowl kept be pretty satiated. It’s nice to have control over what you want in your bowl. Or, if you’re indecisive, you could go with their pre-designed renditions. ⁣
⁣⁣
💬: For a fully vegan bowl, though, I’d say it’s quite pricey. Perhaps it’s just a me thing, but I can’t get myself to fully enjoy my meal knowing I could make the same for much cheaper. The one thing I did enjoy was my sister’s shoyu dressing. Overall, this bowl was just so-so for me. But hey, it may just be that I’m super bad at making a good combination for a salad. Also, I find that salad bars such as this one and the likes of Subway (that have an assembly line for veg) inevitably serve up not so fresh produce. ⁣

For healthy meals, I’d personally stick to preparing it at home myself (I say this now, but just watch me succumb to the temptation of going to another health food place TT)⁣

Boneless Chicken Set [RM12]⁣
⁣⁣
✨: Gold Chili’s rendition of the beloved Malaysian cafeteria staple involves a silky, luscious coating of butter and condensed milk over crispy yet juicy fried chicken. The fragrant flavours of curry leaves and the sweetness of the rich, dairy elements of the dish meld perfectly. A spoon of steamy white rice and a bite of sauce laden meat creates a simply heavenly mouthful. ⁣
⁣⁣
💬: As much as it’s good, I wouldn’t travel to the area for the sole purpose of having a meal at Gold Chili. Would definitely consider going there if I were nearby though. ⁣
⁣⁣
Do you like Malaysian style butter chicken (aka 奶油鸡)?⁣

Eating my way through life!
