A hole-in-the-wall eatery that serves affordable and yummy Japanese food. They were very generous with the mentaiko and the rice was sticky and chewy with fish roe. I also really liked the miso soup ($1), which was so flavorful with salmon belly inside. My only wish was that the scallops could have been firmer!
Still one of my favourite places to have mentaiko salmon anything! Don’t be fooled by the deceptively-small looking portion, one bowl of this mentaiko-drizzled goodness was definitely filling enough. The salmon was fresh and the onsen egg done right - one poke and out oozed the yolk.
The only thing is that this isn’t the place to linger over a meal - the restaurant is pretty small and we were seated around the food preparation area. My third time here and won’t be the last!
The 로뽕 (ro-ppong) comes with a generous portion of stringy mozzarella cheese and tomato-based cream, as well as mussels and fish roe. A must-order for cheese lovers! We preferred this to the 크뽕 (ke-pong) which tasted like a milder version of cabonara as the cream used isn’t as heavy. Though we requested for the spicy version, the spiciness could not be detected. Total bill came up to $23 for 2 pax.
