Enjoy a great steak that’s also easy on the wallet when you dine at this humble joint. You won't go wrong with the crowd-favourite New York Strip (RM45) — consistently good, with a smoky sear. But if you're in the mood to splurge, there's also Japanese Mizayaki Wagyu (RM478) and ANGUS T-Bone (RM250) on the menu. Pro tip: The restaurant gets very busy over the weekends, so be sure to reserve a spot days ahead.

Date night coming up? Cue a romantic, delicious dinner over splurge-worthy dry-aged beef. Dive straight for the medium rare Grain-Fed Ribeye (RM39/100g) that comes with four types of sauces, from horseradish to dijon mustard — they're all delicious. Cap the meal off with a glass of red, full-bodied wine (from RM21 a glass).

From Grain-Fed Fillet Minions (RM31.90/100g) to Kyushu A5 Striploins (RM129/100g) and classic cuts like Flank Steak (RM11.90/100g), this gourmet market has it all. Opt to bring your cuts home, or top up RM15 to let the cooks grill your meat on the spot. We suggest going with the latter to enjoy your prime cut with a simple rub and excellent execution. Every portion comes with gravy, a side salad, and some salt – sprinkle a pinch of it over your steak for extra oomph.

This cosy, stalwart cafe (with several outlets across KL) lets their meat speaks for itself. The Australian Black Angus (RM59/100g) is prime, and best enjoyed Maria’s signature-style — with roasted potatoes and greens on the side. Though served without a sauce, the steak’s own meaty flavours come through beautifully.

Tucked in the basement of Isetan The Japan Store, this under-the-radar meat joint is yet another market-style concept. For something premium that isn't too pricey, go with the Chilled Angus Sirloin Steak from Kyushu (RM25/100g) that sports a nice meat-to-fat ratio. There is a RM10 cooking charge, but the team does justice to the juicy medium rare cook. Fill up with a bowl of Rice (RM2.80) or an assorted sushi tray from the adjacent counter.

ANTE holds a solid rep for their juicy pork steaks, so expect a slab of perfection here. Order the Steak And Fries (RM41) for succulent pork striploin served with black pepper gravy, or the Chargrilled Pork Ribeye (RM43) — beautifully marbled dark meat with charred, melt-in-the-mouth fat on the bone. The latter also comes with ANTE’s aromatic truffled butter sauce that adds richness to the meat.

Known for their smart South American grub, this rooftop restaurant in Troika is also well-loved for the brilliant steaks — bring your meat-loving friend (or a date!) along for the ride. Get the Rare French Beef Flank (RM125) to share. The generously portioned 500g beef comes pinkish and tender, pairing beautifully with the Yuzu & Black Pepper sauce. You’ll also want to make a reservation for the best seat in the house (a table near the balcony) for a better view of KL’s stunning skyline.

File this away for affordable family steak dinners. The chiller outside holds a stunning selection of meats from Wagyu Ribeye (from RM266) to Grass-Fed Striploin (from RM57). Customise as you go, choosing your marinade (MP's savoury Signature Marination never fails!), two sides and a sauce to have with your steak. The kitchen does a spot-on medium doneness, which keeps the meat tender and juicy.
