Cold Cappellini with Botan Ebi
Tossed in Konbu Shio and black truffle: Ikura: Hanaho flower
Having recently settled in next to its sister Ganga Café, Barat Vegetarian Restaurant’s classy decor makes for the perfect date night. Don’t miss out on the degustation menu, A Mediterranean Vegetarian Culinary Experience, which offers over 13 courses for only RM88. The tasting menu eases you in with starters like a quenching watermelon gazpacho and a spiced roasted pumpkin soup. The grilled sweet peppers with cheese stuffing will spur your hunger for more tapas — four more, in fact! -— along with mains like the full-flavoured curried couscous and a nutty pistachio carbonara. The experience culminates with their sweet dessert trio of homemade ice cream or sorbet, brownies and peach in brandy.
Price: RM88
Can you believe these rolls are RM10 a pop? AND I actually think they’re worth it!? Best creative take on a curry puff I’ve had yet (although the name sounds a bit off, they’re not really inverted?). Those crispy, hollow shells hold a dollop of fragrant, tasty potatoes in curry cream, and the combination is utterly delicious. Pro tip: Use your hands.
One of the best french dining with a great view at Alila, Bangsar. Chef was really friendly too!
Again, I love the fun and creative side of Nadodi. The betel leaf is very common in these parts of Asia but I have never tried it till now. Here, the essence of the betel leaf is extracted and made into little rocks or one could say beetles filled with cream and Areca nuts. The Valrhona Manjari branch was a decadent touch. We loved our dining experience at Nadodi and it was one of my best meals in Malaysia this year. I am so glad that of all the places to choose to open their restaurant, @chef_je1980 @sricha_ran @akshar_chalwadi chose Kuala Lumpur. You guys are certainly changing the culinary landscape of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. Can't wait for your 21 mile journey!
This spacious 40-seater restaurant is a labour of Chef Hideaki Oritsuki's lifelong (knife)work and his excellent sushi keeps diners coming back for more. Nestled within ViPod Residences, the restaurant's top spot is a bar seat across from chef Ori — it comes with a conversation with the chef and a good view of his effortless sashimi-slicing. Bring a foodie friend who will match your enthusiasm in the experience. The omakase menu starts from RM350 and is the best representation of chef Ori's prowess. Thankfully, there are also the more affordable lunch sets available from RM128 that will still get you sushi made by the master. Go for the Iga (RM168) that includes eight pieces of chef specialty sushi with appetisers and sides. Hope for the maguro (tuna), horse mackerel and flounder sushi, all to be enjoyed on the chef-curated ceramic ware from Japan — rounded, green plates that are believed to soothe your senses and enhance the dining experience.
