A really interesting version of the usual Hor Fun that is served at this Zichar stall. This is one of their specialty dishes, where the typical Hor Fun is topped with deep fried Hor Fun pieces. While we expected the fried pieces to be totally bland, they were actually pretty tasty and tasted just like Keropok. However, the rest of the dish was just average. There were only a few pieces of Lala (which didn’t taste particularly fresh) and with a couple of pork slices here and there. There was also not much Wok Hey in the dish.

Good to try once👍

Wow, wow, wow. One of the best garlic pork dishes we have ever eaten. There was so much finesse to this dish. Garlic bulbs were fried whole, which allows you to scoop the soft flesh out (if you so desire). There were also thin garlic chips which were super crispy. But the star of the dish was no doubt the fried pork belly, which was perfumed with the garlic and was so fragrant. The batter was also extremely thin, which makes you go back for more and more.

A Must-Order!

This was one of the worst rendition of this dish we’ve ever had! Firstly, there was hardly ever egg (of all 3 kinds). Secondly, the vegetables used were really old and were extremely tough, making it even hard to swallow. Finally, there was little flavour to the dish. Stay away!

No kidding with this description of the claypot porridge served here. It remained piping hot and steamy all the way till the end of our meal. While it should not detract from the taste of the frog’s legs, it was a brilliant porridge on its own with many small bits of dried scallops and silverfish rounding out the dish.

There was nothing much to shout about in relation to the crab and the shrimp (which there was a very small portion of) but the beancurd tasted like it was homemade. It was tender on the inside, yet nice and firm on the outside. Perhaps the version with Chai-po would be better as the sauce on this version was very ordinary and tasted just like starch. And the skin was also not crispy, likely due to the sauce.

While the sauce could have used a bit more heat, there was great balance in the dish otherwise. It felt like fresh salted egg was used, and the sweetness was also just right, with nice fragrance from the curry leaves. While the description of the dish was “pork slices” rather than the usual pork chop, this was the most tender pork that we’ve ever had. Eat it while it’s hot though, otherwise the sauce might become too cloying.

Nothing more needs to be said about this dish other than that it REALLY hit the spot. The chicken was fried perfectly. It was juicy, crispy and we could taste the marinade that the chicken had been in. The honey butter powder added another dimension of flavor to the dish. Being a carb lover at heart, we were really looking forward to the fried topokki. However, it was really plain and tasteless, so we didn’t have many of it.

A very satisfying meal indeed! Felt so full after finishing this plate (which doesn’t happen very often). The miso salmon was tender and flaky (feels like it was sous vide). And the chicken was really chunky, though it didn’t have much flavor to it. The accompanying miso sauce was really yummy though I had it on the side. The sweet potato mash also felt really home-made, with their own spices and ingredients added. Only gripe would be that we wait about 25 minutes for our salad??? Which is pretty unacceptable for a salad stop which had a maximum of 5 patrons, though they had some takeaway orders.

Plump and delicious XLBs! While they were a tad sweeter than what we’re used to, they were still really nice and juicy and can give DTF’s ones a run for their money. Factor in that these only cost $6 and I think we have a winner. The dough on these XLBs were also not too thick, which made them perfect for devouring in one bite.

We liked that the dumplings were plump and meaty and that the sauce was both spicy and tangy from the vinegar. The only gripe that we had was that the dumplings were a little doughy and not really silky. Her hypothesis was that it was one of the trainee chefs who was folding the dumplings and hadn’t mastered the art of folding dumplings yet.
