Ordered mushroom toast, spicy rigatoni and chicken to be shared by two. The rigatoni definitely is something that stands out as it is much spicy than the usual pasta that you may have. Nice vibe - very relax and chill to come during weekdays after work.
Part of the set lunch - braised beef cheek. Very tender and flavourful. The food is fine however it takes a long while before it is served (around 30mins). A bit unusual for lunch.
Had dinner here to be shared by 6, with platter, beef platter (comes with wellington, hanger and ribeye), roasted chicken, and sautéed mushroom & spinach as side. The beef is quite flavourful though a bit chewy. The side is too salty for me though.
Had Beef Marmalade ($14), burnt ends Sanger ($20), skirt steak to be shared between two ($58.8) and marshmallows ($2). The skirt steak is the most impressive one - melt in your mouth texture and flavorful. You can smell the charcoal burnt from the steak and the steak is so delicious!
Not really impressed by the Sanger which is a bit too salty for me. Probably because we had it after having the beef marmalade which is pretty sweet due to the caramelized onion (?). The marshmallow is citron / orange in flavour and it is interesting - but a bit too burnt for me!
The set-lunch here (2 courses for $46++, 3 courses for $60++) is definitely an interesting experience and well worth it. A number of free starters were given before you start with the courses, and they are all very innovative which probably you won’t be able to guess how it tastes before having it!
The doner kebab risotto is part of the 2-courses menu, and basically it tastes really like doner kebab, but in a risotto format. Being innovative doesn’t mean it is not tasty nor satisfying - we all enjoy the food here and are definitely full afterwards.
Had a 3 courses lunch here for birthday celebration. The services is really attentive. Had duck rillettes as the starter, braised beef as the main and chocolate ganache as the dessert. The braised beef as shown in the picture is really soft. The sauce add a lot of flavour to the beef and the cauliflower in cream tastes not bad! The chocolate ganache is just normal.
Not bad as a 3 courses lunch (and very reasonably charged), but i would be expecting more as a restaurant awarded with michelin one star.
Had Piadina during lunch and the cafe is pretty quiet during weekday. Waited around 15mins for the Piadina. The cherry tomato at the side is fresh, and the piadina with creamy cheese and parma ham tastes good. However, the portion is a bit petite especially compare with the price they charge.
Always hear people talking about how good the Merci Marcel store at Tiong Bahru is. After seeing the long queue there during weekend, i’ve decided to drop by the one at club street on weekday for lunch. They offered set lunch menu ($30 for 2 courses and $34 for 3 courses), or a la carte menu. Decided to have croque marcel ($22) and Ravioles de Royans (Small, $18) to share, and add another pain au chocolat ($3.5). The pain au chocolat is not bad - warm, crispy and buttery. The ravioles is a bit overwhelming if we are not sharing it - very creamy and cheesy, but not bad. The croque marcel is a good brunch item to go for.
Everything here is good, the staff is friendly, very chill and relax environment (though the tables are arranged pretty close to the next one) but doesn’t have a wow factor for me - maybe im expecting a bit too much?
Took petit with 3 courses ($38++) on a weekend for brunch and it never fails to surprise me with everything served. From amuse bouche till the petit four, it is a western brunch with omakase concept that you would never know what is serve next. Every dish served is like an art piece and the combination of the food surprises you. I particularly enjoyed the appetizer with fresh oyster with miso cream, and the green sauce gives a kick of spiciness to it. I really like the bread too with the three different types of butter - the bread is very crunchy yet moist in the center. Highly recommended!
Had tandoori chicken sandwich. The portion of chicken is big but it makes it a bit messy to have the sandwich together with the veg. I wish the white bread is not that soft which couldn’t hold the ingredients well in the sandwich. Not particularly impressive on the taste and is a bit pricey.
Salmon fillet with two pouch eggs and toast ($24.9). Food is great (shared sweet potato fries which is nice), good for team lunch with a variety of choices, service is attentive. Just make sure to call and book instead of reserving it online.
Had two course set lunch ($32) with main and dessert. Enjoy the rib eye (medium) with chips pretty much! The medium-rare to medium rib eye is very tender and juicy. The portion looks small but its quite filling. The salt added on the rid eye adds flavour to it. The only awkward part is the salad dressing which doesnt go well with the rib eye. The dessert (chocolate mousse with strawberry) is very rich and dense.
The appetizer and the dessert is good to be shared by two. If you are not very hungry, i would suggest to go with two two-course set lunch so you may share the appetizer and dessert.
