Mr Chew’s take on the Thai Yum Tawai made of shredded apples, pear, bean sprout, palm heart with fragrant coconut fish sauce topped with crunchy bits and hard boiled egg. RM30 per portion.
Erawan is a contemporary Thai cuisine restaurant that’s been in Malaysia since 2009. They have relocated to DC mall few months back and it’s always full house during dinner time. This is the place to go if you’re looking for a great dining atmosphere, premium quality food and presentation. For starters, you can check out their recommended dish Crispy Papaya Salad (RM58) with tempura papaya, soft shell crab and papaya salad dressing with nuts. One of my favourite dish is the steamed sea bass fillet (RM 78) with spicy garlic, chili and citrusy lime juice. It’s fragrantly steamed on lemongrass sticks and the flavourful. Erawan’s Omelette (RM30) and Green Curry free range chicken (RM38) were greasy. The Spicy Wok Fried Brinjal (RM38) cooked with Thai basils and spicy bean paste was pretty good. Overall, the food there was decent although there were some hit and miss items on the menu. Service can be quite slow during peak hours.
The flaky layers of pastry was delicate enough that it fell apart when we pick it up. The entire dish reminds my of Yauatcha’s truffled Wagyu puffs but this was the spicy peppery approach. Worth savouring!

If you’re looking for a nice environment to chill and savour some South East Asian flavours after work, Isabel is probably the new IT place located along Jalan Mesui right opposite the Lion Tower.
Tried their rendition of a Southern Thai dish, Lamb Massaman. It’s a rich and mild lamb curry stewed with blended nuts, loads of spices like cardamom, star anise, cinnamon and coconut milk. I would say the dish was good especially that gravy but the portion is pretty small and there were only few dices of Australian Lamb (RM52) with cubes of potatoes. Pair the dish with some stirred fried water spinach(RM23) and a bowl of brown rice(RM4).
Located in a quiet neighbourhood mall in USJ, MyThai serves decent Thai food at affordable price for lunch. Their stirred fried Thai rice noodles comes with two big prawns that taste pretty good but portion was slightly smaller than usual Thai restaurant. That Prawn tom yum soup was flavourful and come with one huge prawn. RM14.80++ per set.
