Had it as supper at 10pm, still have to queue for around 5mins but it's already so much better than normal timing in weekends! Chicken wing is definitely my favourite - very crispy and the meat is so tender. I like the lady finger pretty much so as the fried egg.
If you find yourself in the far west, here's an idea for a pocket-friendly lunch. Even though it's tucked away in an industrial estate in Joo Koon, this Muslim-owned zi char stall draws a steady queue of lunch-goers with their tasty Halal fare. Previously known as Alex, before he converted to Islam when he married his wife, stall owner Ridhuan was actually a Chinese zi char cook for many years. You won't go wrong with his bestselling Butter Cream Chicken ($4 or $4.50 with rice). Despite being slicked in a rich cream sauce aromatic with curry leaves, the chicken skin still sports a nice crackle, and the meat was very tender. Another dish to try is his signature Green Chilli Fry Rice ($4), which sees the addition of green chilli to enliven what would otherwise be regular sambal fried rice. The portion size is generous, and good to share among two small eaters.

The coffee flavour goes well with the caramel and the generous nuts. I love it that in every bite feels like there's a party in my tongue because of the variations in texture and taste going on. 😍 So much to love about this simple yet beautiful ice cream shop! 💕

For a dessert cafe, who would've think they would do their savories as good as their sweets! Sucha generous serving of golden, fluffy, crispy, delicious goodness!! Covered by a blanket of cheeseeeee 💛 The truffle is very present & aromatic~ These fries definitely deserve a shout-out! Comparable to PS cafe's truffle fries in quality 😭💕 come to mama~
Hand-held happiness is Sunday Folk’s Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Softserve with crazy addictive almond thins to beat the heat. Just as good as I remembered, the luscious smooth ice cream was a perfect balance of delectable milk chocolate and nutty hazelnut. And pair that with the caramel brittle crunch packed full of home toasted sliced almonds, it certainly makes for a nice treat (though note the combination is a little sweet).
Had roasted pistachio and hazelnut milk chocolate. Both were good, but my fave is the pistachio. The toppings were really sweet though!
If regular-sized ice cream portions don't do it for you, Hougang cafe LICKERS may just satisfy with their super generous scoops of gelato; the friendly service is a bonus. The Gelato ($3.50, additional $0.80 for premium scoop) is smooth and intensely flavoured — no diluted flavours here! On top of that, the selection is huge, with some interesting flavours like Yakult Oreo, Salted Caramel Crackers and Oolong Lavender. The Honeycomb, a vanilla based gelato laced with honeycomb bits and maple syrup, is an up-and-coming favourite among the Burpple community.

Those familiar with Tom's Palette will know that it is one of the more innovative ice cream places around. Constantly fooling around with flavours, Tom's Palette has come up with an array of original creations, like its hot favourite- Granny's favourite. This trip to Tom's Palette has acquainted me with this other new flavour- the White Chocolate Nori (as seen in the background). Yes, you've got that right. Seaweed + white chocolate. A seriously puzzling combination (who'd have thought of a marriage like that?!) that proved to be a pleasant surprise. The seaweed added a savory hint to the very creamy white chocolate, resulting in a flavour that is very difficult for me to describe. But fear not fellow Burpplers! Tom's Palette has a very very generous sampling policy (in fact, sampling is strongly encouraged!), so try it for yourself before dropping the money for that (: on the side note, the Asian Tea flavour (in the foreground) is among my top favourite, for it tastes exactly like Thai iced tea. Do try that one too (:
Your diets cry in the face of their Half Baked Cookie Dough – a pan of crisp on the edges but oh-so-sinful soft cookie in the middle. Put the hot cookie together with a scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream and you have yourself a deliciously comfortable mess. My only (small) gripe is that the ice cream scoop was a little on the small side, running out before the cookie did. 🍨
I also suspect they prepare this fresh upon order as it took some time before coming out. A dessert like this seriously just feels so good yet so baaaaad at the same time! 😂
