Yummy chwee kueh-like street food. Slightly sweet due to the coconut cream mixed into the centre, but savoury from the pork, shrimp and the actual batter itself. I think this would have been great if cooked fresh and served hot, but unfortunately the ones we ate were probably sitting outside for a while.
One of the more common dishes that you see around Vietnam, so was glad that we tried the one here which is apparently quite famous. Conceptually similar to our cai fan but with a few differences. For instance, com tam refers to the broken rice which they use for the dish - one of the cheaper grades of rice available. It is typically served with barbecued pork chop. The meat here was marinated really well and super tasty, although some parts were a bit tough. Overall, a cheap, simple, and very delicious meal that you should definitely get when in Vietnam.
Yummy ‘deconstructed’ banh mi! You first spread the crispy baguette with some of their delicious homemade mayonnaise and pâté before stuffing it with the eggs, ham, and fishcake. Makes for an excellent breakfast!
