For once I think that the chicken katsu is more tender than the pork katsu. I personally preferred the chicken katsu more, as it was more flavourful, and went better with the white curry.
Every set comes with free flow rice and white curry, as well as a truffle chawanmushi and a bowl of soup.
Very unique Hokkaido white curry served in this restaurant. I loved how the food is served hot & freshly made to the table. Whatâs better is they offer free flow rice and white curry for every set ordered!
The pork was tender to the bite and deep fried just right to the colour and texture. There were some pork tendons though.
Slightly to the pricey end, but well worth the price for the quality of the food.

Pricey due to its location, but it was so yummy I finished everything even though I was already so full. The runny egg covering the pre-made chicken thigh meat was made-to-order. Coupled with semi-sweet/savoury Japanese sauce which wasnât too heavy, it was a surprising match. I wasnât expecting too much as it was my first time trying saboten despite its fame for its katsu. Nonetheless it was a pleasant surprise and I would definitely come back for more !
Large chunks of lightly marinated salmon cubes canopied the chewy, sweet Japanese rice. A simple yet exquisite dish favoured by many. The shiok-ness of putting one salmon chunk with half a spoonful of Japanese rice into your mouth at once - that texture, keeps me wanting more. (Even though I had the large bowl).
The soup was very addictive; and it tastes waaayy more shiok when you add the fried tempura flakes as it gives a slight texture as you slurp the soup down your throat. The cooked pork slices were tipped over the cooked udon, which could be better if they were being poured with boiling hot soup when raw, like shabu shabu. Without that, the soup flavour lacks the meat flavour.
Affordable udon place in town! Interesting self-service concept encouraging self-return trays as well.
Tastes so much better with the fried tempura bits and seaweed! Udon cooked to perfection and drizzled with popular Japanese curry.
Thick and flavourful soup engulfed well-cooked and springy ramen noodles and a large piece of Japanese char siew. Just can't stop slurping spoonfuls after spoonfuls of the soup đ
They ran out of tuna so the Chef topped up with more salmon. First impression was: whoa they gave a lot of ginger. But towards the end of the meal, I realised I'm finishing all of the ginger oops.
The rice was especially sweet after tossing in vinegar. For someone who don't fancy having rice esp for dinner, I actually finished the rice. (Can you imagine, actually the ratio of sashimi cubes to rice is always 30:70.)
This place definitely cost a bomb to sit in especially during dinner time. Chirashi wasn't awe-inspiring, but their signature panko did not disappoint (except for the price).
The salmon was slightly overcooked and tasted quite dry but the complement with yuzu gave it a very refreshing twist to it. Could have been better if there was a bit more drizzle of Japanese sauce over the bowl.
Fried large prawn wrapped with seaweed and sushi rice covered with mango and avocado slices. The avocado and mango slices neutralised the oiliness in the fried prawn. The mentaiko sauce that was served beneath the sushi roll was absolutely the bomb. A must-order!!!
A more affordable option as compared to getting the ala carte version. The chewy rice complemented well with the freshly cut sashimi. They had a mini saucer which I had sesame seeds and unagi in it! Loved it. The salad was greattttt~ But the chawanmushi did not taste up to standard. As a whole, this set meal is a must-go for if you're a sashimi lover like me.
