SG Cafe Hops
I know, avocado toast. But I haven't had good avocado since forever so... Fresh chunks (note: not mash) of avocado, perfectly poached eggs and just that hint of sourness and bitterness from the burnt lemon. Perfect for a workday getaway (ignoring the fact that the office is just 200m away...)
I really enjoyed this! A good amount of beef. The mustard spread, avocado and caramelized onions are all nice complimentary flavours.
On my previous visit I tried the Pimp my Breakfast option and all of the elements were good. (Especially the chicken and the pumpkin!)
It's the month of June!
No better way to start it but by having a hearty breakfast. The Truffle Eggs Mushroom (S$21++) is a light yet filling and satisfying meal.
The berries butter makes a great accompaniment to the wonderfully toasted bread. The scrambled eggs were a bit runny and creamy (which is how I like them!) but the star would be the mushrooms sautéed in truffle oil. The mushrooms weren't raw, so they don't reek that pungent smell or taste but instead emanate delicate wafts of truffle.
The best dish we ordered that night (we ordered 2 starters and 2 mains). I initially thought this was a main course, as it looked pretty huge in other IG accounts. But it was actually a lot smaller than I imagined. For this price, it was rather expensive, but I would still recommend it. It had a very strong charred flavour which I enjoyed very much, and the lemongrass flavoured sauce brought me back to Thailand where I had grilled seafood by the beach. The spicy slaw however, was something I could do without.
I felt that the seabass was good enough and the pesto was not necessary, however my bf seemed to enjoy the pesto. I love the super crispy skin, and the flesh was soft and tender. Do look out for bones though. Not sure if I mentioned, but the service was lackluster, and food took long to arrive. We spent about 1.5hrs there and most of the time we were waiting for our food. The cafe was also quite cramped and one of the servers kept knocking into my bf. Unless they improve their operations, we are unlikely to return.
Matcha craze is never over for me. I made my way to Old Hen Kitchen specially for this Matcha Milk. Expect high milk content because this is latte (written in Japanese on the label). 😘 This will be popular with those who enjoy matcha flavours but not the bitterness. The milkiness significantly reduced the original bitter aftertaste which purists actually enjoy. 😁
The salmon is really good & fresh! 😋😋 definitely coming to try other dishes!
Populous scramble $18.50
Perfectly seasoned and creamy scrambled eggs, the 'fold' kind. Crispy multigrain toast. Nothing to fault but abit ex leh.
$18.50. Scrambled eggs. One of the fluffiest and richest among sg cafes. Huge love.
On weekends, this child-friendly cafe along Guillemard Road is always bustling with activity. They don't take reservations, so come early with a group of friends to snag a seat at one of the two coveted communal tables. Otherwise, be prepared to sit at the counter seats by the window. The menu is written on the chalkboard left of the cashier and while the number of offerings are limited, you can be assured everything is satisfying. Of the five mains, get the egg-cellent Oven Baked Molten Eggs on Tortilla and Melted Cheese ($16.80) that comes with thinly sliced avocado, cherry tomatoes and smoked salmon. The two ready-to-burst molten eggs promise a river of liquid gold, so have your cameras ready to catch all the runny action. If you're dropping by at non-meal times, opt for their tasty Curried Chicken Wrap ($11.90) or their Earl Grey Croissant ($4.20). Pair these bites with a Flat White ($5) or their Cold Brew ($7.80), and just while away your afternoon with a good read.
Avg Price: $25 per person

There are really just some dishes that I would like to let the visuals speak for just how great its quality is. This is a prime example. It'll singe your wallet though and it's really hearty, so allievate those problems simultaneously by sharing this with somebody. (8/10)
The portion is generous and is more than enough for one person. They have salmon, cherry tomatoes, avocados and spinach as sides. I initially thought why the base of this dish so crusty one? Only realize it is tortilla after reading it online. XD Anyways i love to eat the tortilla with the avocados~
