TLDR: Would go again

Linguine: was yummy, generous with mushrooms. (Got a bit jelat at the end but thats how it is for creamy pastas.)

Lola's Breakfast plate: generous portion, taste wise, nothing too different

Crab cake: didn't really taste any crab, perhaps its the added chilli. Not really to my liking

Pear Oolong: not much oolong but nice and fragrant with the pear infusion

Iced Peach Oolong: again not much oolong but nice peach taste and aroma with bits of fruits in it.

Service & Speed: a lot of staff so action and serving speed was really quick. Didn't have to wait long for the food

Queue: they dont take reservation for peak hours so walked in at 10am when they just opened to get first seating.

Ordered also a Milo Shibuya Toast ($8.90)
If you ever wanted a sugar high on Milo and/or share it with someone, I defo recommend this. Served alongside with whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce, powdered with Milo powder and topped off with Milo cereal and vanilla ice cream, this will satisfy your chocolate craving in one go!

I feel like people were mumbling curses behind my back when I collected lolol

But anyway!! First KopiPass experience at Nook and Cranny (formerly Five by Five) went pretty well

Tried their recommended Chicken Bleu ($15.50): boneless chicken thigh stuffed with bacon and cheese served with orzo rice pasta and salad. Dk what herbs they baked the chicken in but wow 👍🏻👍🏻 For the Truffled Mac and Cheese ($14.50): the truffle oil really worked its magic here. This was my fave!!

Redeemed a freeeeee signature matcha latte (a must try at this cafe) and a hot mocha for myself! #burpple #kopipass #dqky

Thumbs up for the matcha latte, 10/10 for visual n flavour. What a pleasant experience I had there - not only for the food but also had a nice conversation with the cafe owners and who would expect to be entertained with a magic show while you’re eating? Definitely cheered up my day.

As a new entrant to the already competitive Thomson café scene, I’d say they have much to work on. This was a painfully mediocre dish. Slightly dry patty, cheap Kraft cheese, and a perplexing side of Lays (straight out turn-off). Whoever said potato crisps were tolerable substitutes for fries in a “burger and chips”?! That’s literalism of a criminal degree. Saving graces: sunny side up, black pepper seared portobello. But they’re just not enough!!! I’m struggling to find justifications for the frankly extortionate price.

In line with the ma la craze, The Workbench Bistro serves up 麻辣 pasta in their innovative menu and honestly it satisfies ma la cravings even better than most ma la stalls. They don’t shy away from using Szechuan peppercorns here, so be ready to feel your tongue go numb. It’s not uncomfortable at all, the feeling is actually super addictive! The linguine is done al dente, and is coated with a nice amount of chilli oil so it’s not too dry nor too slick. There’s tons of garlic, peppercorns and some chillies inside, which makes the pasta very fragrant. I felt that medium spicy wasn’t spicy at all, but that varies from person to person. If you do eat spicy food regularly, just go straight for the 大辣. The fried chicken cutlet was also pretty good. The batter is very crispy, and the meat is quite tender. For the ma la pasta, the chicken was coated with some chilli powder and it went very well with the linguine.

With such awesome ma la pasta, I’m definitely coming back to The Workbench Bistro!

Since the closure of On The Table at Pasir Panjang, I haven’t really found a place that served up chicken wings similar to their famed chicken wings (apart from Lola’s cafe). Stumbled upon The Workbench Bistro and ordered their salted egg wings, which were delightfully battered and fried to crisp perfection. The eight wings are slathered in delicious salted egg sauce. This is an example of salted egg sauce done right as it’s creamy and the salted egg taste is prominent. Though not exactly the same as On The Table’s, the wings were delightfully crispy and I loved them even more with the salted egg sauce. I know where I’m coming when I want my chicken wing fix!

Tucked in a little corner of AMK, pretty delicious and filling dishes! Salted Egg Burger, Mala Mac and Cheese, Wings and Truffle Fries. Very very full!

Crepe with kurobuta ham and cheese. The crepe is light and goes well with the ham and cheese. Perfect dish to accompany their delicious homemade ice cream.

The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. Sprinkle some salt to get a flavour punch! I didn’t fancy the patty though as there were some rubbery tendons (or soft bones?) in the meat. After awhile it also felt like there was a slight meat stench.

Looks: Super aesthetic
Taste: pretty decent
Value of money: not quite friendly to the wallet for people with tight budget (our bill totalled to be $54)
Ambience: small cafe with natural light
Portion: quite filling for a medium size girl 👧

Haven’t had a cheese and ham toastie for a while. This just hit the spot and more. Washing it down with a soy latte and waffle with ice cream. #sundaybrunch #burpplesg #burpple #foodporn #cheeseandhamtoastie #bacon #eeeeeats

A smooth pandan custard and layer of chewy glutinous rice with streaks of blue, it was a perfect note to end our meal.
