Food From The Land Of The Rising Sun
Expensive souffle pancakes. These were $14. Just didnāt feel worthy for the price point. It was OK, but really nothing to rave about. 3 souffle pancakes (which taste more like sponge cake) + 1.5 strawberry and a few blueberries.
This was a letdown, despite the cheaper pricetag of $25.90 for 2 bowls of barachirashi + miso + salad, the barachirashi was disappointing. Iād say a good 35% of the āfishā was actually huge cubes of cucumber. Mentaiko was good but the fish serving (without the huge cucumber cubes) was subpar. Fish wasnāt too fresh either. Wouldnāt recommend this without burpple beyond. With burpple beyond, perhaps worth a try if you really donāt know what else to eat.
What a disappointment. Looked really different from the menu. Pancakes were just so ordinary - was soft but nothing from what I expected. At $14.40++, the fruits given were stingy. Not worth the price paid.
Best tendon in Singapore - $13.90++, light fluffy batter & super good rice. Chawanmushi and miso soup was a nice touch included in the set. Must visit!
Rich broth with choices of customising broth thickness, noodle texture etc. Free eggs too! Good ramen in Chijmes.
Prices ranges from $12.90-15.90, decent mazesoba in the heart of bugis, really loved the original mazesoba ā everything when mixed together came really well and the flavours were complimented by each other! Definitely a must try for the spring onion lovers out there! Do get the original mazesoba over the specialty one, the original was really good!
Portions seems to be shrinking a little, the bowlās actually really small but the foie gras always wins me over. At $19.90++ for this short rib foie gras don, it was a good and decadent treat with the thickness and the full bodied flavour of the sinful foie gras! Convenient meal to get & the truffled short rib and rice came together really well in the bowl.
They rotate their softserve flavours & this time round I got their peach oolong softserved paired with salted egg mochi balls! Nice ambience and this dessert had a really unique combination, but it was a little pricey for the portion at around $14-16+. Would still recommend this unique dessert if youāre in the vicinity of Haji Lane!
So so satisfying. At $39.90+ this isnāt the cheapest meal out there but it was well worth every single cent. Opted for half portion of grilled and half portion of salted eel & you canāt go wrong with that. I personally like the grilled one better but the salted (lighter coloured) eel was definitely worth a try! Served with refillable broth and toppings, it was a really satisfying end of week meal!
At $50++ per eels, this was surely on the pricier side but it was well worth every cent. Glazed and crispy on the outside yet soft and flavourful on the inside, this eel was literally grilled to perfection! Really fresh & I canāt find any room for complaints, well maybe except for the service. But that aside, this eel is comparable to the ones I had in Nagoya!
Pretty standard bowl of Tendon from Kogane Yama going at the standard price $13-$14++. Batter wasnāt that crispy and got a little gelat at the end, ingredients werenāt the usual, there was lotus root which I felt was kinda weird, an average bowl you, I wouldnāt visit then again unless Iām lazy to go to Ginza Tendon Itsuki!
Where do I even start...this Chirashi Don lovingly prepared by the chefs at The Sushi Bar deserve all the love in the world. Going at a $24.90++, it may seem a little pricier than usual but I assure you it is well worth every single cent. You get 3 crazily thick slices of hamachi, mekaijiki, maguro, salmon, 2 slices of beautifully torched aburi salmon, 2 slices of exquisite tamago, 2 blobs of fresh scallops...only to end it off with a huge dollop of ikura. For the price paid, itās actually really worth it for such quality and quantity, I was satiated after this amazebowl. Itās really the best Chirashi Iāve had in Singapore & everyone needs to try this š«šÆš¦š£. P.s. donāt bother going for the basic chirashi don, itās prices at $19.90++ but itās essentially a bara chirashi don which paled in comparison (the table next to me ordered it haha).
