Korean Food
I love their wide variety of side dishes and how each side dish brought about different texture and flavours. For eg the sweet potato was sweet and crunchy, potato was peppery and the quail eggs were savory. I opted out of chilli and spring onion for my noodles so it looks kinda plain. The noodles tasted like the chinese mee sua but of a firmer texture. The broth was flavourful and milky but it doesnt taste too oily like tonkotsu broth. There were quite a few meat pieces and each piece was tender. I would recommend adding kimchi or red pepper seasoning to bring out different flavour.
Went to had a try during their soft opening. The service was abit slow. As the chefs were korean, the cashier had to write the orders in korean and pass to the kitchen. The dish had leek, egg and chicken. The clam version would have more variety. The chicken soup was more light tasting as compared to the clam soup. Would prefer the noodles to be cook more and softer. The portion of the chicken was very generous. They also serve side dishes like pickled radish, kimchi and barley rice. The kimchi was very authentic and nice. It is the first time i see barley rice mixed with bean paste sauce? You can give it a try when craving for healthy korean food.
Price and size is similar to maki-san. The kimbap has cheese, carrot, spinach, pickled raddish, pickled burdock, egg, ham, fishcake, cucumber and crab meat. There was no sauce so the kimbap was slightly bland. However, it does have a good mix of ingredients.
Ordered their ala carte item. The portion was quite big. Although it states udon, it uses the same noodle as jjajangmyeon. It included prawns, mussels, clams and squids. The prawn wasnt very fresh but the mussels and clams were well clean. The soup is more peppery. If u want to something light tasting, can order this.
Chanced upon this new food place at 100AM. This replaced the eventasty noodle store. Both the pork bibimbap with and without cheese are the same price so i ordered the cheese one. Comes with free flow seaweed soup and kimchi. The soup tasted like plain water. The kimchi doesnt taste authentic but still nice. I like that the rice does not stick to the stone pot. The spinach abit overcooked. The corn makes the dish taste like pepper lunch rice. Not the most authentic but decent bibimbap if you are craving for one. Their menu does have other items e.g. stew, hot plate as well.
The noodles came with a lot of ingredients - prawns, sotong, black fungus, cabbage, onions, black fungus, zucchini, pork slices and chives. The noodles were the same as jajangmyeon noodles but it doesnt stick as much. The pork slices used were the same so a bit dry. If you want something savoury, i would recommend this. As it has a lot of ingredients, value for money.
Quite a big bowl. The sauce wasnt salty but more sweet. There were a few slices of pork but i feel that it was quite dry. The noodles easily get stuck together in chunks. Texture was al dente. If you cravinf for just noodles, this would be a good option.
Went during weekend dinner and there was a long q. Rmb to make reservation beforehand. The jjim does not come with rice and we cannot order extra bowl of rice either. We chose the duroc collar set for 2pax. The meat was tender but it got all stuck together. The whole set was very clean tasting as it doesnt have any seasoning. They gave 2 dipping sauces - non spicy ssamjang and sukiyaki sauce. I think the sukiyaki sauce was better. There were refillable banchan - kimchi, spinach, cucumber and squid. Probably would not order this again but would love to try their sotbap.
I managed to get a queue number online first so didn had to wait too long. The gukbap comes with different slices of pork and pig stomach. The soup tasted abit like bak kut teh to me. The pig stomach was clean very well and didn have any gamey taste. The pork were tender too. It may look fatty but doesnt taste that way. Their kimchi was very authentic too. Overall, it was a bit bland for me. Perhaps would try the dinner menu next time.
Seen a lot of men bo sha from korean shows so tempted to order one. It's like fried bread with prawn paste in between. Very crispy and nice. Given it is deep fried, so it's abir oily as well. Have not tried this at any other places so not sure whether it is legit.
Ordered from the lunch menu which was $12nett. They are generous with the minced meat in the sauce. The noodles were well-cooked. I opted for pork bulgogi and can taste the bbq smokiness. Pretty legit bowl of jjajangmyeon. You can add on a drink and steamed egg/dumpling for $4. The steamed egg was not the overflowing kind like ahjumma's. But still quite special as can taste the clam broth used in the egg.
Prices are net here. I ordered the meal set. For bibimbap, there was a non spicy option i.e. ganjang sauce for people like me who doesnt eat spicy. Can opt for egg or tofu for vegetarians. The set meal comes with a side dish where you can choose between salad or korean fried fish cake. There is also a drink with few options such as pear juice, barley tea etc. The service was relatively fast. Not sure why their bibimbap has no bean sprout. The portion may look small at first but is actually quite filling. The overall taste is light but flavourful. Remember to get a cup of soup yourself. Will come back again.
