Chicken 🍗 Briyani Set (I have seen biryani, beryani, breyani 😂😅) 🙋🏻💭isn't it briyani? Anyhoos, this was some the juicy, n the tender, n the plump chicken thigh that was served with the nasi, with the fragrant-licious curry! I think there were succulent slices of eggplants 🍆 in either one of the curry; Whoaaa they & the ACHAR!! were da bombz ! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🍆🙌🏼🍆🙌🏼🙌🏼 I guess the right cooking methods really bring out the best flavors from nature foods! Yummeh !! 👅💦💦 curry chefs for Prata should consider loading em' good with some good ole 🍆; 😋💜 so it's approved ✅ if you order a set (@$13 I think) you get a fragrant local coffee/tea, a small serving of achar and an appam! Quite the deal lor, imo! 😋😋😋 better still if you are seated upstairs, very vintage-y & a bit of titanic living room feel ⛴⛴🏠 the combi is either chicken or mutton briyani btw!

A plate costs between $9-10 dollars, depending on your choice of meat. The mutton briyani is supposed to be the bomb. I had the chicken briyani and the rice is super good!

Located just a few minutes' walk from City Square Mall (nearest MRT: Farrer Park), this constantly buzzy joint serves what we believe to be the best dosas in Singapore. They've nailed the familiar Masala Dosa ($6) with a crisp, ghee-fragrant exterior, tasty spiced potato filling and piquant chutneys on the side. Burppler Jayne Tan loves how she can distinctly taste fermented rice and black lentils in every bite. For the more adventurous dosa connoisseur, we highly recommend going for the Pudi Masala Dosa ($6.50), an open-faced pancake that is soft and spongy, yet browned and crisp on the bottom. Sprinkled with spicy chutney powder (it tastes very umami-ish, almost cheesy) and topped with a small mound of potato, this is one filling vegetarian dish! If it's your first time here, order both our recommended dosas to have the best of both worlds! Pro tip: This place fills up fast for dinner, so visit earlier at around 6pm (they begin dinner service at 5:30pm) and be prepared to share your table with strangers.

Really love the succulent and generous pieces of sashimi that Sushiro offers. Yes you pay more 💰 but you also get the quality your 20 bucks deserves. The only downer would be the sauce that was a little too strong and a little too generous that it was drowning the rice.

Finally got to try the much raved-about bara chirashi don ($12.80) from Sushiro! The sashimi was cut into thick chunks which made each bite more substantial. Their marinade is on the slightly sweeter side, which is fine although I personally prefer it to be more savoury. It looks small, but is actually quite filling! Definitely one of the more value-for-money sashimi bowls around.

You can top up $3 to get a salad and soup, or $5 to get the same plus three slices of salmon sashimi. I think it would be more worth it to spend on their aburi sushi, which looked really tempting when they were torching it in front of us. Thankfully, we went early so there was no queue - otherwise, be prepared for a long wait as there isn't much seating room!

On days where you want to attempt to eat healthy, try Maki-san, a Halal-certified shop specialising in customisable sushi rolls and Japanese salads. Check out their clever and cute graphics both in the shop and on their sushi packaging! Go for the sushi roll, Little San ($7.90), and opt for the Traditional Nori as your wrap and Healthy Brown Rice as your rice. While the Mega San ($9.90) allows you to select five essentials for your sushi filling, the three essentials for the Little San are sufficient to fill you up without warranting a food coma. Get the steamed ebi, grilled zucchini and ebiko as your essentials and don't forget to choose the tempura crunch as your sprinkle — it adds a nice crunch to your sushi roll. Finish off with the housemade chilli crab sauce — sedap!

I like the texture of their cold soba, and it's only $11.90 for such a generous portion.

Here to 'eat clean' after my yoga session and decided to try their salads for a change. What sets Maki-San apart from other salad outlets would be their choice of toppings. Here in my Big San, I have grilled egg plants, roasted mushroom, Caramalized sweet potato, sweet corn, boiled eggs, tempura enoki mushroom, chicken floss and a dash of sesame sauce (: okay not the healthiest salad, but definitely one of the most interesting of selections out there. One thing though, I'd have enjoyed for a bigger portion for its price.

It's really up to you, but a good mix of "Essentials" would include Ebiko, Steamed Ebi & Tempura Enoki Mushroom. Parmesan's really overpowering, so only go for that if you enjoy emptying packets of powdered cheese on pizzas.

For "Sprinkles", Tempura Crunch adds a nice crumbly texture, while Chilli Crab pairs surprisingly well as a "House Sauce".

All "Specials" sound palatable, but from our experience, tempura soft-shell crab gets a little lost in the mix of flavours, all competing for your tongue's attention.

Great for secondary school meet-ups just before catching a movie upstairs. If you haven't used your Entertainer 2015 before the year ends, now'd be good.

Taking over Curry Garden, this Halal steamboat joint in Punggol Ranch is a great spot for family gatherings, especially for those of you living in the northeast! Go straight for the Steamboat Buffet ($22 on weekdays, $25 on weekends), which allows you free-flow access to fresh ingredients — we were particularly charmed by the selection of seafood like crayfish, plump prawns and dory fish, which were snapped up but also refilled very quickly. The steamboat pot comes with an attached grill, on which you can also cook a selection of marinated meats like black pepper beef and curry tandoori chicken. The buffet selection also includes a rojak station, along with fruit and brownies for dessert, but drinks are excluded. Expect to pay an average of $2 to $2.50 for a sweetened drink like bandung or iced lemon tea. It gets pretty warm too especially when it's crowded, so dress breezy. Pro tip: This place is packed on the weekends and they aren't always efficient with taking phone reservations. Save yourself the headache and come really early, or plan this for a weekday instead.

This fully air-conditioned mookata restaurant on the eighth floor of Orchard Central is perfect for your next get-together session with friends you haven't met in a while! Prices start from $18.80 for lunch and $28.80 for dinner with free flow of drinks. Choose one of four soup bases — bonito, chicken, tom yum or salted egg yolk (more of a dip than a soup base), before loading up your plate with king crabs, bamboo clams and slipper lobsters. The unagi, beef cubes and scallops are great for grilling and dipping into their housemade sauces like the lip-smackingly good green seafood sauce. If it's your first time handling slipper lobsters, get the friendly Talay Kata staff to guide you in cracking open the shell, so you don't waste time trying to cook the meat with the shell still on (...like we did). The stellar spread of meats and seafood is more than sufficient to feed everyone; but if not, there's always the DIY Som Tum and shaved ice dessert stations to turn to! Pro tip: From Mondays to Thursdays, students and National Servicemen enjoy 15 percent off their bill when they flash their student or NS card!

A hearty bowl of thickly sliced fresh salmon, tuna, swordfish and amberjack with ikura and tamago from the sister restaurant of Chikuwa Tei. My lazy teeth were complaining about how gamey those slices turned out to be as they were really thick. I could taste the "freshness of the sea" while eating it though in my opinion, there was too much vinegar in the rice.
