Healthy Hearty Meals
It's been awhile since I've last had a salad bowl so this detox feels good đ Went for the salad option for $8.40 (you can choose olive rice too) and added $2.20 for my protein of choice. One of the more value-for-money salads considering the decent portion will definitely fill you up!
Yet another donburi option in CBD, DOCO (@thefishshnack X @soicocosg) currently offers two specialty rice bowls - Sh-nack Don (Grilled Beef) & Sh-ken Don (Honey Miso Chicken). And without a doubt, I chose the former cause beef is life. Nicely grilled, the Sh-nack Don comes with savoury slices of beef topped with a runny onsen tamago and cajun fish sh-sprinkles on a bed of warm Japanese rice. Though a little dry overall, the crunchy bits of spiced/seasoned skin lent an element of saltiness and worked nicely with the tad sweetness from the tender marinated meat. At $8.90, it is certainly a decent lunch item and an intriguing way of getting your crispy fish skin fix.
Moreover with their in-house Fish Sh-nackâs donburi series, you can complete your meal with a $3 top-up. Wash things down with their Coconut Shake ($4.90) made with a blend of Thai coconut water and bits of coconut flesh or end off on a sweeter note with their Coconut Soft Serve ($4.90). Dairy-free and vegan friendly, the nutty swirls was just the right consistency - not too icy and fab with the organic gula melaka drizzle and powder. Not cloying either, I would definitely recommend having the soft serve if you are in the area seeking for a light refreshing treat.

In the last week I had 5 different ones.
Mostly average, or a better word lacking in that X-factor (since there are so many of them). I Guess I like to taste bigger pieces of fish, and the Hawaiian flavors more distinctly.
This is one of them. The good thing is the price. $12. #dfdsalad #100DaysOfSHOU
A bed of romaine lettuce with delightful ingredients such as #avocado, sundries tomatoes, marinated carrots, quinoa and a really interesting #beetroot #hummus that was surprisingly yummy. Added on a portion of Cajun chicken (+$3) for some protein. #xuannyeatsclean #burpple
Clearly, Hawaiian poke bowls are all the rage now and I do have many theories when it comes to these colourful healthy âPo-kayâ Bowls (pun intended). However, hearty, healthy, and tasty may be the winning formula for this sleek yet casual food joint.
Filled with greens, fresh protein cuts, grains and distinct sauces for that well-balanced bite. Each A Poke Theoryâs bowl offers an interesting myriad of textures. Building your very own poke bowl is simple too, choose your carb (Lemon Herb Quinoa/ Signature Sushi Rice/Romaine Lettuce), pick your flavoured fish (Original Shoyu Tuna/ Spicy Garlic Sesame Tuna/ Spicy Mayo Salmon/ Avocado Miso Salmon), and select from the range of standard toppings. Also, pimp it up with the premium toppings ($2) prepared daily such as Kale Chips and Spiced Roasted Cashews.
Having the regular portion of Avocado Miso Salmon on a bed of nutty quinoa tossed in fresh lemon and chopped cilantro, I found the flavours to be pretty mild but the avo sauce was intriguing as the initial creaminess gave way to the hint of saltiness from the miso. You can also give the other sauces a try and spice up your bowl at the side counter.
The bowl, for me, unfortunately lacked a little oomph and fell short from the many praises that I have read about. But worth a try nonetheless, especially for a guilt-free lunch option!
A delicious and healthier breakfast choice. Ripe creamy avocado slices on toasted sourdough, combine with pesto, baby spinach and dill infused feta. Add an additional $4 for poached egg and may be just the perfect way to start your day!
